*shudder*
I can't stand PWP slash for no reason. I'm not homophobic, I just object to bad writers who need to get a dictionary and look up the word platonic (see: Lord of the Rings, Frodo/Sam. No, no NOOOO!!!)
Yes, Recon, I think the fanfic term 'slasher' tends to return to someone who writes slash. At least that's the only context I've heard it in.

I was recently reading the live journal of someone on my friends list (they happen to be a slasher- in the slash writing, rather than knife murdering sense) and they were talking about how when watching Firefly, they found Simon and River to be terribly incestuous. It was shortly after this that I started thinking that slashers are vaguely sociopathic with the complete inability to tell the difference between friendship and love or affection and lust. The two other things that bug me aboust slash, 1) If I read fanfic, which I don't, I read it because I want to read about the characters that I like, if you're deliberately changing the way the act, then clearly they're no longer the characters I like, so what's the frakking point? 2)Some of the reasons slashers use when they try to argue that their pairing of choice is in fact canonical are so freaking spurious and idiotic

For anyone who doesn't know, a shipper is a term applied to a person who likes a relationship or potential relationship between two characters Depending on what show you pick and the characters you like your choices may end up being disapointing or satidfying, AKA my dissapointment with Voyager with the Chakotay/Seven relationship when I wanted a Janeway/Chakotay one. Anyway is it just me or is anyone else seeing the possibilities for the relationship between Roslin and Adama to evolve? I think they could do something really interesting with the two characters. Not generally a huge "shipper" myself, but, I wouldn't mind seeing Callie get some play with the Chief. But, that's just me..... Tibbetts

I'm pretty sure I suffer from Shipperitis. I have been a shipper during my obsession with The X-Files for both Scully/Mulder and Doggett/Reyes. I was a shipper when I liked JAG and wanted to see Harm/Mac. I got shippy with Ron/Hermione in Harry Potter. And then I watched the miniseries of BSG and I went nuts. Ships all over the place and I'm not talking about Battlestars, Vipers, or Raiders. I'm talking Lee/Kara from the first scene of them together and the same went for Roslin and Adama. Severe shipperitis, it appears, but like any good drug addict, I DON'T want to be cured. My favorite is definitely Lee and Kara. I'm a big dumb dork but Kara is my role model and she's the same age as me, and Lee is absolutely Mr. Ideal. Sigh. Only two more weeks until I get to see more of the story... considering moving to the UK if not just to see BSG RIGHT FRAKKING NOW! ;D

Roslin and Adama... Lee Adama. I dunno, I just got the vague feeling something was building there. Maybe it was just building for the job assignment Roslin had in mind for Lee. I'll look more closely as I rewatch all the episodes now.
Ellen (Tigh's wife) "plus half the fleet." Maybe first with Chief Petty Officer Tyrol, since he would be vulnerable, looking to distance himself from Boomer. Would Boomer turn into a Six-like jealous bitch from hell?
Boomer should be looking for someone else to sink her teeth into, now that Tyrol is at best neutral to her. Baltar + Boomer + internal Six? Then again, maybe it would be more fun to have Baltar pursue someone else, with internal Six's ugly jealous side thwarting him at every attempt.

If Boomer needs someone to sink her teeth into, I'm all for some Boomer/Crashdown loving. I mean it can only increase the amount of screentime Crashdown gets and let's face it, given how little screentime Crashdown gets, I can't see Ensign Davis getting much. I dunno why, I just kinda like the idea of them; not that there's been any kind of indication that there's anything, this is me being entirely arbitrary.

I've always considered "slashfic" to apply not just to homosexual relationships, but to any 'ship that is just plain WRONG on many many levels. Not to say that homosexuality is wrong: I don't consider Ivanova/Talia 'shipping to be slash, as the B5 show clearly stated at one point that those two had a romantic interest in each other, even at one point putting them in bed together. But Sheridan/Garibaldi would clearly be a slash relationship, as would Sheridan/Ivanova, because at one point the characters come right out and state that they have no such interest in each other.
On BSG, I think (from the minseries and first two episodes) that the following 'ships are reasonable based on canon:
Apollo/Starbuck Billy/Dualla Baltar/Six G-Boomer/Tyrol C-Boomer/Helo
And the following are somewhat reasonable based on a few cute moments hinting that something MIGHT develop:
Baltar/Starbuck (from the card game) Will Adama/Roslin Crashdown/G-Boomer
Any other 'ships I'd consider slash at this point. Even the second group is slightly slashy, as Starbuck and Baltar together would be just plain evil, and Adama/Roslin would be painfully dangerous to the entire human race. Can't have those two getting their judgement clouded, or they're all dead.

SPOILER SPACE BELOW ................ .................. ..................... ...................DONT READ IF YOU HAVNT WATCHED COLONIAL DAY AS IT WILL SPOIL IT FOR YOU BE WARNED ......................... .............................. COLONIAL DAY........................ ADAMA SNR/ROSLIN OH YES THERE IS A VERY CUTE SCENE NEAR THE END OF COLONIAL DAY WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE SERIOUSLY HAVING THESE TWO CHARACTERS GET TOGETHER EVENTUALLY ASSUMING OF COURSE THAT ADAMA SURVIVES KOBOL'S LAST GLEAMING PART 1.
YEP THE SCENE WAS PRICELESS. AS YOU ALL MAY KNOW DR BALTAR HAS BEEN VOTED VICE PRESIDENT OF THE 12 COLONIES (COLONIAL DAY) LAURA ASKED HIM TO RUN TO ENSURE THAT TOM ZAREK WOULDNT GET THE JOB. AFTER BALTAR TRIUMPH AND OF COURSE THE PREESIDENT HAVING A CHAT WITH TOM ZAREK THE COMMANDER SHOWS UP AND THEY HAVE A VERY INTERESTING CONVERSATION THAT RUNS AS FOLLOWS. ADAMA "EVENING MADAM PRESIDENT" ROSLIN " I THOUGHT YOU HATED THESE THINGS COMMANDER" ADAMA "ITS COLONIAL DAY. WHERE ELSE WOULD I BE? IM A PATRIOT" ROSLIN "YOU REALLY ARE" ADAMA "DR BALTAR INTERESTING CHOICE" ROSLIN "I THOUGHT BETTER THE DEVIL YOU KNOW" ADAMA "POLITICS AS COMPLEX AS WAR AND AS DEADLY" ( MAY HAVE MISQUOTED HERE ITS LATE IM TIRED) ROSLIN "IN WAR YOU ONLY GET KILLED ONCE BUT IN POLITICS IT CAN HAPPEN OVER AND OVER2 ADAMA " YOUR STILL STANDING" ROSLIN "SO ARE YOU" ADAMA "YES AND I CAN DANCE" HE OFFERS HIS ELBOW AND ROSLIN TAKES IT THEN YOU SEE THEM ARMS AROUND EACH OTHER DANCING. NICE SHIPPER MOMENT MADE THE EPISODE FOR ME.

And coming from a fandon where you are constantly told that relationships ruin sci fi here we are with a show that thinks it's ok, welll more than ok! I love Lee and Kara. I'm really interested to watch that chemistry develop. But also Helo and Boomer, he totally loves her, he's such a hero and it's all so tragic. Can't wait to see how that plays out. Erika

I actually hope nothing really develops between Kara and Lee. I like that they obviously have affection for each other but retain their mutual respect. It's the whole Mulder/Scully thing. Keeps it so much more interesting with that tension that never quite lets up. Besides there is enough sex for the whole crew between Baltar and Six.
One thing I did notice, and it probably doesn't mean much, but Cally was the first to give Apollo a hug after he destroyed the Cylon base in The Hand of God.

I tpersonally think it will happen, but I do think they will take it really slowly.I also suspect that there is a lot more history to them than we have seen so far. I love the tension between them it's great. I also love that they have this rivalry and are equally matched in all sorts of ways. I don't think anyone will ever complain that Kara's character has ben relegated to being 'Lee's girl' like some people complained about in SG1 fandom. Erika

I think that After Kobol's Last Gleaming Part 2 the idea of a relationship between Adama and Roslin would be a very brave move for the producers indeed but it would certainly make for interesting viewing probably be some drink induced one night stand type think coz i dont think those two would last in a long term relationship they would knock strips out of each other constantly.
I have to be honest i would love to see that on screen the fighting the gettin under each others skin. Each knowing two much about the other it would make the fights almost scary.
for those of you who havnt seen the entire series i say its brilliant and the last episode is the best really great ending i was glued to my seat thats all i will say about it.
