Out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone here knew of any forum based RPGs based around TNS? Or, alternatively, if there were any folks who would be interested in starting one if they knew there was interest (I'd consider it, but I already have my own place eating up my time)?
While I may frequently sound like one of the participants in the whole infinite monkeys/infinite typewriters hypothesis, I can write at a decent standard, so ideally, I'd be leaning towards something of a more advanced/mature standard of writing; stuff written in full proper prose instead of actions just being denoted with asterixes and what not and decent length posts of a number of paragraphs, rather than a couple of lines

Would that be board-based somewhere, or an email one? Sounds like a giggle, at any rate.

That'd be cool.
I've never done any online RPGs before, so I'll take your word for it.

What kind of plot ideas do you have Crashdown? I used to RP in the style you mentioned, full prose with a purpose. I think the BSG Universe seems to be quite rich with plot ideas already... Cylon clones! Mind-fracked scientists! Political intrigue, love, moral questions.... Would you be using the characters from the series (Adama, Apollo, Rosilin, Billy)? Or would writers be the people behind the scenes (techs, intelligences officers, marines, criminals, civies, pilots)? If so surely we can make up ranks for whose under the Chief, but above Cally, if that doesn't exist.

Honestly, as of right now, I have all of about zero plot ideas. I was mostly just tossing the idea out there to see if anyone else was interested and as I have to run a Buffy forum based RPG, I haven't really given it that much thought.
I was thinking basing it mainly around the main cast, but leaving space for people to apply for original characters, after all, there's gotta be a whole frak-load of Viper-jockeys, raptor crew and ship board crew that we haven't seen yet, so there's oodles of space for people to bring in their own ideas.

Interesting, I used to RP at Hatrack.com, Virtual Battle School based off the Orson Scott Card book Ender's Game, suggest it if you haven't read it... In that we played completely original characters, mostly cause it was on Card's website and he'd sue our asses if we didn't play by his rules.
I've always been far more interested in those behind the scenes anyway... Like the who was filing the app in "33," whats his story? Or the story of the un-named officers walking the halls on Galactica. Or heck, whats life on the other ships! Like the Olympic Carrier type cruisers. I mean no real sense having anything besides space and the Galactica, which is a big ship for now, but I mean if things get big, the idea of intership plots is there. Ah... Overanalyse.
Anyway, I used to mod a board made by former VBSers. I haven't really written in a while, but I think BSG offers a good enough setting to allow me to explore certain plots I'm playing with in my own writing. War, terrorism, religion. So if you're interested...

Yeah, I'm interested, be nice to see how many other folks are though; I've seen too many forum RPGs go down. Not to mention that I'm not entirely sure about time at the moment

Ditto... Recruitment would be really poor if its not set real well... This is something I know nothing about. And eventually I'll have to work again, and take more college courses, which'll monopolize my time. If you do set something up give me a holler...

I'd like in on the RP action. Hate to admit it, but I've been playing RPGs longer than some of you have been alive.
As far as settings, you have all the other ships in the fleet. An intelligence service will be important. There's different watches for squadrons. All kinds of material to work with.

I was thinking any character, setting is up for grabs, albeit maybe not Caprica just yet; but essentially if you wanna be a Cylon agent and you have good reason than go be a Cylon agent. Same with techs, merchents (there has to be a few), and pilots, and civies, and politicians...

First, we need a forum dedicated to role-playing, probably in the other media category. It's best we organize things where they are going to be set up for the game. We also need to decided on a game system. People don't need to spend a whole lot of money on a system they don't own. Best if we use one of the many free RP systems that litter the net. You can get the basic D20 system for free as a download from the WoTC d20 system page... www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/welcomeHere's the original source document download link... www.wizards.com/d20/files/v35/SRD.zipAnd the D20 Modern sorce document link... www.wizards.com/d20/files/msrd/MSRD.zip
