Steady on! I don't think anybody from the Sci Fi channel, or indeed the producers has stated beyond doubt that February 1st will be the day the decision is made, let alone announced. It appears all but certain that the decision has already been made in principle, but the powers that be may choose to wait to tie up a few loose ends before putting out a press release. I'd imagine, for starters, that they'd want to conclude negotiations with all the main cast before announcing. In any case, 13:00 UK time is five o'clock in the morning in Los Angeles, so expecting a decision at a time when most of the TV execs will still be fast asleep is unrealistic at best. As for how long the news will take to cross the Atlantic, well, the internet works at the speed of light ya know!

Given Sci-Fi's track record with the timing of announcements regarding this show, I'll be happy if we get the announcement by the end of the week.

SyFyPortal says today or tomorrow based on the high ratings for Episode 4. Read on: www.syfyportal.com/article.php?id=1709'Battlestar Galactica' Sees Another Ratings Increase Author: Michael Hinman Source: SyFyPortal Sources from SyFy Portal had reported that a pickup was almost guaranteed as long as ratings for the fourth episode -- "Act of Contrition" -- didn't plummet last Friday. The episode didn't plummet ... in fact, the ratings actually are up over the previous week's episode, "Bastille Day." A decision on whether or not to renew "Galactica" for a second season is expected to be announced sometime Tuesday or Wednesday. The first season has 13 episodes, and six scripts for a second season already have been ordered by NBC Universal. Some rumor reports still have NBC itself interested in adding the show to its schedule, even if it's rerunning the first season over the summer. Read more of the story at the above link. KR

This thread is killing me; everytime I see that something has been posted here, I rush to take a look in the hopes that someone has heard something, only to be disappointed. My only comfort is in knowing that I may just have inflicted the same on someone else

Maybe we should try praying to the :-*CylonGod:-* instead of the Lords of Kobol? After all, are TV Network executives more likely to be on the side of the Angels, or the other side entirely?

That's hilarous, redspine, but I prefer the original...
Our Data, which art in memory, HELLO be thy name. They access come, thy will be RUN On disk as it is on hardcopy. Give us this day our daily system test, and forgive us our I/O Errors, as we forgive those whose logic is faulty. And lead us not into frustration, but deliver us from power surges. For thine is the algorithm, the application and the solution, looping forever and ever. RETURN.
(with apologies to $aint $ilicon of C.H.I.P.)
