My first thought was Jeff Bridges. But Cain always struck me as a little nuts, so I would love to see Alec Baldwin in the role.

Ugh. The last thing we need is a baldwin cluttering up our BSG set.
Alec, the only one who might do even a half-way decent job is too high profile anyway.
I still vote Michael Ironside. He's done lots of this kind of thing, isn't associated with any particular character, and is enough of a hard ass to pull it off.

Well, he's playing an evil Cardinal on the new show Young Blades, with Bruce Boxleitner and SHeena Easton. It's about a woman who dresses like a man so she can join the musketeer academy.
Uh huh..

It's on PAX, but I think it's syndicated.
Brice Boxleitner has a bangs, it's kinda disturbing.

Gene Hackman still sticks out to be my fav especially after watching the ep to remind me what you're all on about I think any Actor that is a foil to EJO's caliber can do it and I think Gene Hackman who is another of my favorite actors besides EJO can go head to head but I still think for old times sake I would let Dirk Benedict do it if he can't I'll go with Gene Hackman since I haven't seen him in any movies lately since Runaway Jury . After what he's said about new BSG, I'd rather keep Benedict well away from it. I know Hatch was pretty critical, but Benedict came off as a total misogynist ass.

If he was still alive, George C. Scott would be pretty awesome.
My first living choice would be Kurtwood Smith, I could also see Avery Brooks, Shatner, Ed Harris, Jeff Bridges, Patrick Stewart, Morgan Freeman, Alec Baldwin, Samuel L. Jackson, or Gene Hackman.

I think offer up my first choice - Robert Lindsay, Sir Edward Pellew from the Horatio Hornblower series.
Another choice would be Terry O'Quinn.
Or, to think a bit different Graham Green -it'd be a reunion for 2 stars of "Dances With Wolves".
Or for a female commander, what about Alfre Woodard? Or (and I'm partly kidding here) Anne Robinson?
Just my $.02
But then again, we are far ahead of ourselves. First, we need to keep the pressure on Scifi to renew the series.

I think Robert Lindsay gets my vote to the way I now look at it think the skecth for Cain in the Video Game did sort of looked like Robert Lindsay , and plus I'm a Robert Lindsay too . Speedbird WHA
