Which actor would be the best to play Commander Cain ?
I think these Actors where really great for this role:
Dirk Benedict (old Starbuck would be a really good new Cain)
Don S Davis (General hammond from Stargate SG-1)
Samuel L Jackson
Quentin Tarantino (great director and very good actor)
How do you think ?

Benedict is my first choice. Other than that no one they could get would excite me more than Dirk as Cain!
He would be fantastic!

Given those choices, I'm definitely going to have to go with Samuel L Jackson. . . not that that would ever happen. 1. Not sure about DB - whether he could pull it off or not. Maybe. If he wants the part he'll need to send a screen test my way. 2. Don S. Davis is kinda the rotund armchair general type. Caine needs to be a lean and mean warrior. 4. Tarrantino can be fierce. But I've never seen him play a character that wasn't just a little bit flaky. Not the hard core military veteran type I would think. Bruce Willis would be a great choice, although he's just as likely as Jackson (i.e. not).

Knowing Moore the character will be turned into a female and be played by Kate Mulgrew. Now my top choice to play Cain is WILLIAM SHATNER. I saw Samuel Jackson in the SWAT remake and he was great as Hondo. Steve Forrest who played the origiinal had a cameo at the end of the film. Don S Davis is a bad choice because he and Michael Hogan look alike. I originally thought Davis was playing Tigh.

Or how about one of the following:
1. Herb Jefferson Jr. (the original Boomer) 2. Terry Carter (the original Col. Tigh) 3. Jeff or Beau Bridges (as a tribute to their Father)

It might be interesting if they tried to further distance themselves from the original by making him either much older, or much younger, than he was in the original. I suggest either Patrick Stewart, or Will Smith ("I, Robot" proved he can be serious, now if he can just hold it for a full production).

He played a Col. on SG-1 and was quite good. He might be best suited for the by-the-book sort of officer and Cain is anything but by-the-book.

We got into this in another thread further down...here were my picks:
Depending on how you'd want him played...Caine could be the gruff military type:
R. Lee Ermey Sam Shepard Sam Elliot James Cromwell Powers Boothe Michael Rooker Gene Hackman (not a chance in Hell) Kurt Russell (like he needs the work) James Caan (already on a TV series)
The reserved, brilliant, calculating, myseterious type:
Mitch Pileggi Ed Harris Michael Biehn (could also do wacky unbalanced) Lance Henrisksen David Morse Andre Braugher
The wacky, possibly unbalanced guy
James Woods Fred Dreyer (don't laugh, I think he could do it)
Of course, if we can guess anything from RDM's casting choices already, it'll probably be:
Tyne Daly (honestly, she'd be good) Bea Arthur (deeper voice than Lloyd Bridges) Glen Close Lindsay Crouse

ha ha, Jennifer Garner-Affleck? Of course she has nerve damage right now. (and maybe brain damage if she's with the ex Mr. J-lo, but that's another story).
Of course...she's way too big to do Galactica anyway.
