I can't say I was thrilled with the kind of role that Richard played, but I was impressed with how good he was. And I've seen Richard in a lot of embarassing roles over the years. This is his best acting in a long time. He'd be an asset to the new series.

I guess if Richard couldn't have Second Coming then it was the highway for the rest of the fans.

I think he means that Hatch's enthusiasm for a continuation had a lot less to do with promoting the aims of the fan community and a lot more to do with revitalising the career of one Hatch, Richard L.
Not that I blame him mind. Half a loaf is better than no bread.

I guess if Richard couldn't have Second Coming then it was the highway for the rest of the fans. I think that Hatch has done everything possible considering the limited resources that he has and a total lack of studio interest, besides the man does need to earn a paycheck. Should he dedicate his life to the Second Coming and in the meantime go broke in the process. In many ways perhaps Hatch sees this as his Second Coming.

Making Richard the Prez or even Vice Prez would bridge the gap between the 2 series by having him there but they would go on without him if they need to.
A payday is a payday no matter what the acting job, and this is an acting job.

There will always be some that think Richard has sold out & will never embrace TNS- even if they get all TOS stars in it! That's just the way of life. KR

If it is a sell out,.....then lets go get the original Starbuck to sellout with Richard Hatch & find a place on BSG for him too. I feel it's not a sell out to be back on the Galatica again.... its acting Damn GOOD acting so far.

Benedict mentioned that Moore wouldn't recognize BG if it was in his rear view mirror. To that Moore stated that Dirk was just peeved that his character had been changed to a female. Ron doesn't get it. IMHO Moore is the wrong person for this project. maybe if they had JMS doing the show one could enjoy it. I loved B5.

I'm sure there would be other TOS actors chomping at the bit after this season. Already BSG is getting critical acclaim from TV Guide's Matt Rousch:
I'm getting a bad feeling about where this is headed," says the president of a dwindling band of human refugees fleeing a genocidal foe in deep space. A sense of fatalism pervades Sci Fi Channel's scarier, sexier remake of '70s camp relic Battlestar Galactica (premieres January 14, 9 pm/ET). As the show picks up from the 2003 miniseries, the crew is exhausted and the fighter pilots punchy as they're stalked by the fearsome Cylons. This is strong stuff, TV's most provocative fantasy adventure since Farscape ended.
Some of TOS actors will probably make an appearance in future seasons. I would love to see Anne Lockhart as Commander Cain.

You can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

Kingy, I love the old show as much as you do, but I harbor no illusions about it; it was campy as heck even then, and unintentionally so. Some of this was, of course, due to bad circumstances, but a duck is a duck is a duck....
The new show I would stack right alongside The Sopranos , Deadwood, Law & Order, or any other top dramatic series, in every category....and I write for television, trust me, I'm more than ready to spot crap. This is quality drama.
