I was meaning: what do we have to learn about the 13th tribe and colony? (other than where they went) I mean we already know everything about them... as the audience

For starters, why did they leave Kobol in the first place? Why did they go one way, and the other 12 the other way? I'm sure whatever Ron has cooked up his sleeve will keep me interested, and tie everything to what's going on in the current storyline.

Maybe there was a disease or a civil war...some kind of religious or political dispute?

After listening to RDM's audio commentary for "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down", I began to wonder if that ep's original storyline might turn up early in season 2. "TMU,TMD" was orginally patterned after the movie "Crimson Tide", in which the XO of a submarine removes the captain from command and a struggle for power ensues. It didn't work in season 1 -- RDM said they just couldn't work the script to the point where it was believable to see Adama and Tigh facing off at gunpoint, so they abandoned that angle and took the episode in a completely different direction. However.... we HAVE seen Apollo and Tigh facing off at gunpoint already. With Adama out of commission, at least temporarily, and Apollo still loyal to the civilian government, I think we may see a power struggle with Apollo and Tigh on opposing sides. We may just see Apollo leading a mutiny to take command away from Tigh and restore the Colonial government. I think you're on the right path here. Initially, I think Tigh is going to be overwhelmed with what happens to the Cmdr and Sharon. It really hasn't been until the last few episodes that he's started to sort of come around to the Col. he was before he started drinking. But I think he's still a bit on the unsure of himself side and in those moments right after the chaos in CIC, a lot of things will slide by. I'm of the opinion that Zarek is a cylon and will try and continue to disrupt the civilian government. I also believe that while Baltar may not be a cylon, he is so being led by the nose by Six that he doesn't seem to know if he's making decisions based on his own thoughts or hers. Ellen Tigh, if she's not a cylon, I'd be amazed. Her reappearance and attitude during TMU, TMD was just too convenient for her not to be. And no, I do not believe that either of the Adamas, Col. Tigh or the President are cylons. I like what someone else speculated. That the cylon models were made to be people who really had no distinct ties in the past. We know Boomer has a history, but its only what she has been told in the series. But there is no one there to back it up. We have no history about Six, Doral or Loeben other than what they claimed. It would be really hard for the Commander or Tigh to be a cylon without the other knowing as they've known each other for over 20 years! And surely Tigh would be well aware of the history between father and son to make it impossible to make Lee a cylon. Ron Moore is adding a lot of twists and turns with every episode. Season two is going to be really interesting.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SPOILER
Haven't you figured it out there are no aliens, gods or cylons. They are all the same race at different points in their evolution. The cylons go back in time and populate the earth, kind of like adam and eve. Then our culture evolves on earth and we find the remains of the galactica crew on Kobol who have evolved in to the gods then there is a falling out and a "war of the gods" on kobol. Some the gods want to stop the cycle of destruction and some beleive that every thing must happen as it always has. After this war the humans on Kobol (cylons from earth) flee and establish the 12 colonies. They build cylons and the whole thing begins again. In other words human life began on Caprica with the creation of the robot Cylons!
