OOookay.....being only an American who just saw episode 8. And having read the outlines of the rest of the first 13 seasons. These ponderings about Season 2 are "verry interesting" to say the least.
I am not fazed by any spoilers. The series is far more complicated and involved to put me off it because of them. The actors putting so much into their characters is well worth the "price" of knowing.
Although the new series setups do not quite cleave to the old one, I had been wondering when TNS Baltar would finally become closer to TOS Baltar. To be seduced so completely for him to think he is part of the Cylon Great Plan. To Rule, yet think he is atoning (and helping) for what he had done to the Colonials.
The psychological themes are so convoluted, whose sword will it be to cut this Gordian Knot?.

For me seeing how the G-Boomer and C-Boomer stories will come together will be what brings me back. For season 2. Watching G-Boomer fight an internal battle. And the developemnt of C-Boomer and Helo's relationship is what's kept me watching and wandering if maybe it's the cylons interactions with humanity that decide what they'll become. I mean it seems like G-Boomer has lost more control of her "human" side the more isolated she becomes from everyone else. And vice-versa for C-Boomer.

I predict Roslin will be attacked, and either Starbuck or Lt. Gaeta will avenge her! Oh wait, that already happened in episode 13, with Adama attacking Roslin, and Lt. Gaeta avenging her. But I "predicted" it from a mapping to Greek mythology that I made for unrelated reasons over in the It's All Greek to Me! thread. Based on the same Greek mapping, I made more predictions in that thread that should occur early in season two. Allow me to repeat the predictions for those who don't wish to wade through all the mythlogy: Then Roslin will flee to the "temple of Athena" [which we now know as the "tomb of Athena" down on Kobol.] But somebody who corresponds to Little Ajax (I suspect the smaller of a duo introduced in episode 11 [the guy that Starbuck fought]) will track her down, optionally rape her, and then drag her off into slavery, still clutching a statue of Athena.I have more predictions. I predict Roslin will use the unlikely words, "misshapen toad" or "misshapen daggit" (to "Little Ajax".) I predict at some point Roslin will be cursed to always prophecize the truth and never be believed. I'm not sure if this has already happened. (Starbuck believed her, but she probably corresponds to Roslin's patron saint, in the mythological mapping.) It should happen after Roslin spurns Apollo, but I don't recall her doing so yet. It's also the case that Apollo should be incapable of telling a lie, just like the Greek god. So listen to Apollo and Roslin! On another front, I predict Tyrol or Crashdown is the father of pregnant Sharon's baby, the one on Caprica, I mean. Now this one is a huge speculation, because there are just too many variables. But something like this will happen. Pregnant Sharon, Helo, and optionally Starbuck will wind up on Kobol. Sharon will go scouting. Crashdown-n-crew meet up with her(*), and boy are they happy to see her, because they know nothing of what has happened on Caprica or Galactica. Cylons probably chase them at that point, but they escape and make camp for the night in a cave. Worried because Sharon is overdue, Helo will search for her and he will find her... spine glowing with Crashdown! He is "sure" it is his Sharon. He will throw a temper tantrum and hold the two up to ridicule to Calli and the rest. Tyrol and another Sharon will then come out to see what the commotion is about. With two Sharons, and her three lovers, hilarity ensues. (*) Not necessarily the same Sharon! At this point, there will be at least 2 pregnant Sharons, probably 3, and at least one of them is already many weeks pregnant. Helo will not be the father of any of the babies. The babies will correspond to Phobos (Phebe?), Deimos (Damion?), Anteros (Anthony?), and/or Harmonia (Harmony?).

That's certainly some interesting thoughts u have there. I do think that helo and tyrol will have to have it out over "their" sharons. I mean even though she is a cylon how's the chief going to feel when he finds out that helo has wanted his girl the whole time. ;D

After listening to RDM's audio commentary for "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down", I began to wonder if that ep's original storyline might turn up early in season 2. "TMU,TMD" was orginally patterned after the movie "Crimson Tide", in which the XO of a submarine removes the captain from command and a struggle for power ensues. It didn't work in season 1 -- RDM said they just couldn't work the script to the point where it was believable to see Adama and Tigh facing off at gunpoint, so they abandoned that angle and took the episode in a completely different direction.
However.... we HAVE seen Apollo and Tigh facing off at gunpoint already. With Adama out of commission, at least temporarily, and Apollo still loyal to the civilian government, I think we may see a power struggle with Apollo and Tigh on opposing sides. We may just see Apollo leading a mutiny to take command away from Tigh and restore the Colonial government.

Adama, Tigh and Rosylin
What a beautiful political situation Rosylin and Adama have presented to Zarick! Rosylin can be discredited because she endangered the fleet by throwing away the cylon raider in some idiotic treasure hunt, how long do you think it will take Zarick to ferret out her Kamala use if he hasn't already? The prez is on narcotics and she's dying to boot, but instead of leaving power to abler hands she insists on endangering the last humans beings in existence on nothing more than drug induced visions, the bitch.
Adama can be discredited because he lied about Earth, and Ellen Tigh knows it, and that he launched a miliary Coup, the bastard. While he is recuperating Tigh is in charge, whose wife is firmly in Zaricks camp. Zarick will be busy burying Adama and Rosylin under a blanket of bullshit. Lee Adama is in the can for mutiny. Tigh will be caught between helping his friend and listening to his wife, between personal ambition and Adama long friendship, I think he will initially do his wife's bidding. And when his slut wife starts cracking onto Zarick goes into downward spiral, made worse by Ellen's use of alcohol to control him.
Zarick then launches his collectivisation programs, which through all the talk of freedom and equanimity has the effect of making him dictator in a police state. Rosylin's dream sequence in the forest comes to mind from Episode 8 Flesh and Bone, the paramilitaries weren't hunting down the Cylon Leoben, they were hunting her! The entire fleet will be turned inside and out and upside down, and as resistance grows, Zarick turns to violence and fear to keep his position.
The only thing standing in Zaricks way is Baltar as Vice President, and Zarick will have no qualms about having Baltar accidentally and tragically slip out of an open airlock - this was the real threat the Six was alluding to, not a Cylon agent. While trapped on Kobol Baltar is safe, and Zarick is free to manipulate the situation and establish himself in power without needing to assassinate Baltar in the short term.
In the first season, both Adama and Rosylin inherit their positions, in season 2 will be about proving themselves worthy through a baptism of fire, as the fleet lurches from one crisis to another, as Zarick slowly loses control of the situation.
G-Boomer
It's ambiguus as to whether Gaeta filled Boomer in on what has occurred, I am assuming yes. I reckon the Cylon in G-Boomer took advantage of the political situation, will claim to have shot Adama on political principal. Gets made a Colonial Hero by Zarick in his efforts to demonise Adama. And when Caprica-Boomer reaches the Fleet, it marks the beginning of the end for Zarick. Her Cylon and human sides will continue to struggle.
Starbuck, Helo and a pregnant
The raider is not big enough for more than 1 person, they'll need another ship if all 3 are to get off Caprica. I reckon they're stuck there for a while, Moore said we would be learning more about the cylons in season 2, this is the best thread to do this, they are stuck on a cylon occupied planet with a co-operative cylon as guide. Interesting how Starbuck is the only main character to accept that cylons have souls and she winds up with a pregnant cylon on her hands, isn't it.
Baltar, Six and Leoben
My pet theory is Blatars Six and Leoben from Episode 8 are impostors pretending to be Cylons, specifically advanced entities with miraculous powers subtly influencing events for purposes unknown. Why do I think this.
First in the original series they existed as Count Iblis and the beings in the Ships of Lights, Adama speculated that they were angels of old, so it's another element of the original series than can be re-imagined.
Secondly and more critically they have demonstrated at least once, some advanced abilities. Six in the manifestation of Shelly Godfrey disappears literally in thin air while being followed, Leoben seems to be able to read Starbucks innermost private thoughts and experiences suggesting telepathy. On this train of thought, there is no chip in Baltars head - it's telepathic projection, same with Leoben's incursion into Rosylin mind. The cylons on Caprica have not exhibited telepathy instead trying to second guess if Helo is in love with Boomer. Not have the cylons demonstrated the ability to teleport or transmit matter during the cylon attack or on occupied Caprica. We also see a real infiltrator unit in G-Boomer who doesn't exhibit any special powers whatsoever in her acts of sabotage.
Thirdly suggestive names and visuals. Godfrey means "peace of God", also at the end that episode, as we round the corner following six, she disappears in a halo of light. Also Six appearance as angelic in a halo of light as she saves Baltar from the Crash.
Nor have Six or Leoben killed anyone, most peculiar. What was Leoben real mission, it seemed that he was intent on getting Starbuck to accept him as being with a soul, the question is why? The fact that Starbuck has wound up on Caprica in care of a pregnant Cylon and is the only human being that accepts that cylon might indeed have souls is most interesting. The cylons in Caprica have no idea whatsoever where C-Boomers has gone or is up to, but Leoben was able to ascertain that Starbuck might be involved down the track, thats just too freaky, not only does it suggest an independence from the cylons but also suggests that they can at least ascertain the future to some extent. I don't think the Cylons wanted the pregnant Boomer off Caprica and out of their control but Six seems to be preparing Baltar to take care of the child. Who and what they really are and what are their motives and objectives is still undefined, but I believe in season 2 this thread will be further elaborated on, though I don't think Ron Moore will spring a big reveal.

I think you guys are on the right track... command chaos. Commander Adama is unconscious, Tigh becomes intoxicated and unconscious and relieved of command by the doctor, Apollo may be third in command but he is in the brig with a charge of mutiny, president Roslin is in the brig, and vice president Baltar is MIA. So now, Lt. Gaeta is in command of both the military and the civilian government? Is he really fourth in command? Meanwhile, Tom Zarek claims the title of "acting president," on the grounds that he tied Baltar for votes, except for Roslin's tie-breaker. Zarek launches attacks against the military, with some help from military defectors who think Lt. Gaeta is a Cylon after reviewing the tapes of Adama's shooting. Zarek is branded a "terrorist" by the military. There are parallels with the Iraq war - taking over the government is easy - handling the resulting mess is impossible. Boomer is in the brig too. Her execution, ordered by Tigh, is stayed by acting Commander Gaeta. How many brig cells do they have? They could have some fun if others have to go in the same cell as Boomer. I think the idea of Boxey springing Boomer from the brig is something that could happen, but I can't imagine how to do it without it seeming stupid. Gaeta wouldn't be incharge, there's another Captain on board the galactica... kind of a fat guy... he's the guy in the MS that talked to Adama first (before the bring in the cat convo with starbuck while she was jogging), he was helping the chief fight the fire (when Tigh ordered the emergency venting), and he was also the guy collecting all the dogtags after the fire, during the approach to the Anchorage sequence.

MrNiceGaius, that captain was not retained under his contract, and it would be a bit jarring to see him suddenly return in season 2, episode 1 to take command.
KELLY: I just wanted to say what a pleasure it's been serving with you in your command.
ADAMA: Captain Kelly, it's been my honour. Good luck in your next assignment.
I think we have to assume that Captain Kelly left on a shuttle right after that, before the Cylon attack.
Gkrts, I am taking your word on it that Shelly Godfrey disappears in a flash of light, so I would be inclined to believe she is from another civilization, probably one of the nearly immortal Lords of Kobol. I don't like the idea of Cylons possessing transporter technology, so I love your theory, and I have rolled it into my theories in other threads. If the humanoid Cylons were created in the image of the Lords of Kobol, then when the Lords of Kobol themselves appear, it's hard to tell the difference. These Lords of Kobol, being technologically advanced, can probably "interface" with Cylons. And they can also probably weakly interface with demi-Cylons: half human, half Cylons. And thus give them visions, with "them" being Baltar and Roslin, thus far. However, I think it's fairly likely that Baltar and Roslin do have chips or something equivalent... but it's the Lords of Kobol who give them visions, not the Cylons.
So, in a future season, I think we will see posts like, "Is Adama a Lord of Kobol?" instead of (or in addition to) "Is Adama a Cylon?"
Back to Shelly Godfrey. Adama concludes that she was real, because he finds her glasses in CIC. However, if the Lords of Kobol exist, there are all kinds of explanations for how those glasses could have gotten there (if they were even there): they could have been transported in, they could have been placed there by a Cylon who is under control of the Lords of Kobol, etc.

the only blond chick that I see remotely near a halo of light is Baltar's Six, in Baltar's mind, as she's prancing around naked on the way to Baltar's Sex chamber. Does that really count? I mean it's in his mind.
I'm assuming Shelley through herself out an airlock or something... I mean, would cylons really care about their bodies if they can transfer into a new one.

The Lords of Kobol will be revealed to us in the next season. Their role in the Colonial past is analagous to the "Ship of Lights" in the original series. If that's the case, then we might view them not as "gods" per se but rather highly evolved beings who some humans worship as Gods.
One of the LofK - i.e. "Dirk" - was to have been revealed in the finale of the first season. These guys are for real. Question: what is the relation of the LoK to the Cylons. Will we know more abuot their role in the first human exodus away from Kobol to the twelve Colonies (and in what way does the past prefigure the future?)
We may find out more about the Lost Thriteenth Tribe.

It's part of the backstory. There is an Earth. The Cylons know that Kobol will point to it. The ancient Colonial scriptures speak of it. If Ellen Tigh's questions at the party are any indication, people in the fleet are asking when they're going to get there.
So, yes, I think it's worth it, and I can see some stories headed that way.
