Am I the only guy who doesn't want to see the Pegasus? Well, let me clarify; it would be cool to see the Pegasus or another battlestar (though I think the ones with the zodiac names are cooler), but I don't want to see the Commander Cain character so much. If they do include Cain, I hope he is as drastically re-imagined as most of the other characters, because as much as I loved it as a kid, there's simply no way I can see that episode today & not have it produce the biggest laughs out of the entire original series for me...every damn time Bridges is on screen, there's one of two things constantly running through my head: "Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue" and I keep waiting for him to turn to Adama and ask "You think you're better than me?". Xenu, you make some great points. I'm in favor of a "reimagining" of the Peagus story, not a continuation. Actually, that two-parter is one of the only eps from the first series I still enjoy watching. But Bridges was only so-so in the role, I thought -- "Those galmoging Cylons!" The arrival of the Pegasus was the highlight of the ep, as well as mind-fracking the Cylons during their attack. The conflict between the two crews of the Battlestars was much more interesting to me. I hope they keep that aspect, but Moore takes a free hand with the rest. I never liked the Iblis plot, or the Ship of Lights. I think this series has enough metaphysical elements that it doesn't need to borrow guys in white suits and overexposed camera shots. Moore, I'm sure, has plenty of his own stories to tell. I'd also like to see some backstory or flashbacks. If the budget allows, I'd like to see the nuking of the Colonies up close. From Moore's original script, he was going to show some of it, but it was obviously cut due to monetary considerations. The foundry ships or the creation of new Vipers would also be interesting. I'd also like to see more about how the economy of the Fleet works. Roslin indicated that they were about to re-establish a currency-based system. I wonder how. Perhaps an episode told from the lower ranks, a la Star Trek: TNG, would be interesting as well. A day in the life of Tyrol and Cally would be cool, or the life of civilians on the fleet. What the heck are they seeing and hearing during all this commotion on the Galactica?

I am just not keen on the whole Pegasus thing. I guess it irks me that the Pegasus would have to wander off, leaving the fleet with only one Battlestar to protect it. I can’t see that as realistic, no matter how much of a megalomaniac the Pegasus captain is.
What do I want to see? I want to see more of an exploration of the sadness involved in the whole process. The characters seem pretty flippant about having literally the “last cigar.” What about the wine and liquor? They will run out very quickly unless one of the ships was a transport ship full of the stuff. How sad would it be to be a wine lover and have the last bottle of Bordeaux, ever? Wouldn’t able bodied men (and women) be lining up to volunteer to do something? I know I would.
There are so many things that could be done with this material without veering too much from the main characters. What about a memorial service for the dead on the 6 month anniversary of the attacks?
If earth were the present day earth, which maybe they could somehow let us know without making it cheesy, then I think a lot of talk about how getting to earth will be their salvation would add a bit of poignancy to things. I know this has been covered in another thread a bit, but if the fleet showed up right now there wouldn’t be time to use the technology brought with the fleet to build more weapons to use against the cylons. Earth, instead of being the salvation, just becomes a second victim.
I would like to see more backstory about why the 13th colony was so distant. I also agree with others that some stories about the original cylon war would be nice. I think the series sold itself short by reaching Kobol in the first season. Maybe they needed it to get the ratings to stay alive. A sad commentary if true since now the search for earth will be very drawn out while finding Kobol was easy by comparison.
If Roslin is having visions it would be nice to have a vision (i.e., a long segment on the series) about Kobol before the colonies were established. They could use that in place of some of Baltar’s meanderings with No. 6. I think No. 6 is hot but most of that story line just bothers me. Maybe in her flashbacks she finds out about the real reason for some people fleeing to earth. Maybe they were religious separatists, Luddites even (space faring Amish – OK maybe space faring Mennonites with black bumpers on their spaceships, no chrome trim and all). Roslin sees (not the Mennonite bit) this and knows that finding earth will only lead to disaster for humanity and so directs the fleet off in another direction. Only she and a few people will know and then she will pass away.
I want Baltar to have a rival. Not some stupid political rival but some equally engineer/scientist or CEO type (think Steve Jobs) who is used to adversarial situations and a real rival for Baltar’s primacy as technical advisor. And I don’t want it to be just something where the cylons bump the rival off or something where he is later marginalised. Better yet, what if the rival is a she who thinks Baltar is a twit and he thinks she is hot? No. 6 will hate the rival but somehow can’t do anything about her.

Note that they won't run out of alcohol. The nuggets have built a still to make alcohol, and Tyrol is going to show them how to do it properly. No doubt there are dozens of such stills already in operation throughout the fleet. And no doubt Ellen is on a first-name basis with most of the still operators.

I know this has been covered in another thread a bit, but if the fleet showed up right now there wouldn’t be time to use the technology brought with the fleet to build more weapons to use against the cylons. Earth, instead of being the salvation, just becomes a second victim. This statement just gave me a flash of inspiration about how they might handle the discovery of Earth. In the last episode of the classic series, the Galactica picked up transmissions of the Apollo Moon Landings. I was annoyed with this, because if they were close enough to Earth to pick up transmissions that recent, it meant they were almost literally right next door (assuming they would find present-day Earth, as in Galactica 1980). But how's this for an ongoing subplot for the next season or two... The Galactica picks up a faint radio transmission. It's clearly not Colonial, and they think it might be Earth. This gives them a bearing, but with without knowing the original strength of the signal, they can't know how far they must travel down that bearing. We the audience recognize it as early morse code transmissions. A couple jumps later, and they're a few light years closer. They pick up more powerful signals, and it's human voices this time. We the audience recognize it as early 1900's experiments with voice over radio, perhaps Marconi or somesuch. Perhaps it's ship-to-shore radio transmissions about the efforts to pick up survivors from the Titanic. A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. Now they're picking up later transmissions, news of WWI or the 1920's. Maybe they pick up the word "Earth" in one of the commerical transmissions. Now they know they are on the right track. A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. Now they pick up Orson Welles' famous Halloween broadcast of "War of the Worlds". They are worried as heck about the story of aliens invading Earth, and this broadcast would clearly prove that the transmissions are indeed from Earth. They might even make this the main story of the episode, how the fleet deals with the news that Earth is facing alien invasion. The relief when they realize it is fiction would be tempered with annoyance, and the realization that Earth must not have routine space travel after all. A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. Now they pick up news of WW2. The colonials are worried: Earth seems to be in trouble, and the descriptions of V-2's and such don't sound like all that high tech, from their perspective. Is this more fiction? Lots of signals are picked up, and it seems too elaborate to be another hoax. A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. They begin picking up signals from the 1950's, and the first Black and White video imagery. Confirmation at last that these are humans. Maybe they pick up some early TV sci-fi, and the robots worry them at first until they realize it is again fiction. The fleet starts making frequent sideways jumps, as the Cylons are on their trail, and they fear the better Cylon jump engines will let them race ahead and obliterate Earth (or even just block the path) if they go on a straight line for too long. A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. They begin to pick up images of race riots and the Cold War hysteria. Now the fleet is really worried. Did Earth blow itself up in a frenzy of mutual annihilation? Are they too violent and divisive? Or is that so much Star Trek felgercarb? A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. They pick up Star Trek (surely Moore can get Paramount to let them have some stock footage). Hope springs anew about a spacefaring Earth, but those hopes are dashed again when they realize it's fiction. Of course, they also pick up bits of news about the Space Program. While dismayed about the primitiveness, they at last know that Earth might indeed be spacefaring. A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. Heh, maybe they pick up TOS. Nah, they pick up one of the TNG or DS9 episodes that Moore wrote. A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. Now they pick up the fall of the Berlin Wall and the hopes for peace, plus some Space Shuttle footage. Now they have real hope that Earth isn't screwed up. A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. Now they pick up stuff from the present day. Are they close? Time for a season finale. A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. Now they pick up transmissions that are clearly a few years in the future from the audience's perspective. Until the end of the series, they pick up more and more futuristic transmissions. When it becomes clear to the producers that it is time to wind up the series, either they reach Earth, or they get transmissions showing the lead-up to the End of the World. Either the Cylons get there first (Six as a newscaster? UN Chairman Aaron Doral?) or the Earthers destroy themselves, either way, it becomes clear that Earth will not be their refuge. and Adama ends the series by saying, "Well, now we go elsewhere and find our own new home." Whaddaya think, Sirs?

Uh, Big Brother, historical documents.
Your idea might work, but would the average American understand, or would they think "Why and how is the Galactica time travelling?!"

I think this could make a really great episode. Considering the panic it originally caused in the US when it was aired, can you imagine what it would do to the Colonials if they heard it. A couple jumps (and episodes) later, and they're a few light years closer. Now they pick up news of WW2. The colonials are worried: Earth seems to be in trouble, and the descriptions of V-2's and such don't sound like all that high tech, from their perspective. Is this more fiction? You can just imagine the start of this show, close up of a radio speaker, then a voice says, "This is the BBC World Service."

Uh, Big Brother, historical documents. Heh...makes me wonder what they would think if all they picked up was a complete set of Babylon 5 episodes...what with the disclaimer at the end that this was an ISN historical docudrama... Your idea might work, but would the average American understand, or would they think "Why and how is the Galactica time travelling?!" Easily clarified by dialogue in the ep. Someone could point out that every time they jump a few years closer, they pick up broadcasts from a few years later...but also miss a couple years of transmissions they jumped past on the way. Some idiot could ask, "why don't we just not do FTL jumps so we can pick up a continuous record", to which someone who didn't spend their high school science classes trying to peek down the sleeveless blouse of the cheerleader sitting next to them (wow, she must have been a 42DD at least) replies "because then it would take us maybe hundreds of years to get there, and burn up a heck of a lot more fuel".

I hope it is as good as season 1 if not better. I personally hope that they don't re-hash any more of the TOS episodes or characters. Let the writers get their creative juices flowing and write us some new material without reverting back to the old.

My wish? For the Pegasus to show up, and for Dirk Benedict to guest-star as Cain.
It'd also be nice to have a Cally-Tyrol relationship develop.
Oh yeah, I wouldn't mind Adama not dying, too. That'd be nice.

My thoughts on season 2 are simple. Back at the start of the mini, the Galactica was with out ammo and only had a few Mark 7 vipers. It makes sence that a supply ship had offloaded that equipment and returned it to Galactica’s home port (Caprica). Starbuck and Helo will be looking for a ship that can hold all three of them that also has a FTL drive that can make the jump back to the fleet. They could find the supply ship in a supply depot on Caprica, still loaded with all the very much needed equipment, capture it and return to the fleet. This would accomplish two things. One, More vipers, Rapters and supplies to defend themselves. Two, although Starbuck disobeyed orders in going back to Caprica in the first place, her returning with all that stuff would soften the consequences of her actions.

I am reminded irresistably of Galaxy Quest...did anyone else ever see that movie? And that in turn gives me a silly image of Edward James Olmos having an argument with Commander Adama...

IMO I agree with Pudge with seeing some flashback episodes on the first cylon war . Maybe Col. Tigh, Adama and Cain could reminice in an episode , with Cain saying . Commander Cain : Do you Remember the time that you shot down your first cylon ? ( and Adama thought about it for a moment and said . ) Commander Adama : Oh yeah , I remember it was on my first cylon mission right . Commander Cain : That's right . ( and there is a flashback on the first cylon mission where he did shot down his first cylon saying .) Adama : I got him , Wahoo . ;D and something along those lines actully but hey that's just me . but I was wondering what actor does the video game of cain remind you of ? that's the actor I could see play him butting heads with EJO . and I would also go with Commander Adama flying in his old viper too as a father/son flight with just the tow of them him and Lee Adama as well . WHA

Don't know whether i would want to see a flashback episode or not but i would love to see an episode which divulges more information on both Adama and Tigh's past. I don't think it has been revealed how long Tigh has served as Adama's XO. I found it strange that in the flashbacks of Zak's funeral Tigh wasn't present. As a friend of the family, i thought the Commander would have permitted him to be there. Even Tigh's wife didn't know that Zak was dead - i found that strange as well.
I found the deleted scene of the mini series where Billy informs Roslin that Col. Tigh came from an illustrious family interesting. I would like to see this touched upon in season 2. Maybe his wife wasn't the only factor that drove Tigh into the bottle.
In terms of Adama, i would like to know more about his part in the cylon war and his career choice afterwards. The bio on SKY was pretty sketchy at best.

1) Reimagine Pegasus and Cain where Cain left the colonies years ago, hell bent on finishing the cylons, causing the cylons to setup their infiltration and the eventual attack in the mini.
2) I want Adama and Tigh to say screw the president and send rescue parties back to the colonies. THen I want to see Starbuck and Lee cram themselves into that little cylon raider and fly back to the colonies looking for people to rescue. Let them find some other ships and pilots and raid the sagitarron salvage yards that have all those old mark 2 vipers sitting out in the sun...
Can you imagine Kara and Lee trying to persuade people to follow them after they just climbed of a cylon raider?
