Young's Special Ruddles County Kimberley Classic Mmmmm, what I’d give for a pint of real English Bitter right now. Guinness is my favorite, but I only drink it occasionally because I hate spending that much on beer, and I get really drunk on it. Most evenings, I have a Michelob Amber Bock, maybe two. Guinness is only €2.10 over here in Ireland (so that’s about the same in $). So come and visit anytime you want. Guiness (Draft in the US market) has less alcohol by volume than Budweiser draft. The stuff in the bottles on the other hand, quite a bit more. Black and Tan, the oldest version I know was Harp and Guiness. Marketing changed it to Bass and Guiness fairly recently. Boddingtons? That is an English Bitter? Or a closely related ESB? I seem to recall that the name Black and Tan is an insult directed at the uniform colors perhaps of English troops, or maybe just local cops in Ireland. You are correct. The British Army, while in occupation in Ireland (yes, all of it, for those of you who didn’t know) used to where black and tan uniforms. That was late 1800’s early 1900’s. Guinness, however, has always been black and white. Newcastle Brown Ale yum yum yum Oh, yeah! With a pint bottle and a half pint glass.

I'm not brand specific, I like to mix it up a bit. I've got Alexander Keith's IPA, Sleeman Cream Ale, Rickard's Red, and Labatt's Blue (hockey beer) in the house right now. I just can't stand the dicount crap. I keep hearing guys say that you 'get used to it'. I don't drink enough to want to get used to it, I want something that tastes good!
My weapon of choice lately has been Rye and 7up.

I'm never hard and fast with what I drink.
It all depends on what is available on draft and what mood I'm in.

I used to be a beer drinker but now it's red wine. Wyndham Estate BIN 555 Shiraz. Rosemount Estate Shiraz/ Cabernet. Yeah I'm into the red to but that's a whole different ball game. Has to be the right time/place. Good choice on the Rosemount. If you like their Shiraz then you should try Pennfolds. They have an amazing shiraz/cab blend. It's a pretty good bang for the buck. I think it's called Rawsons Retreat. www.penfolds.com/Those Aussies know how to make some nice red. Back to the Beer now.... These links will do you no good , but just make you thirsty. At least you will be familuar with the label www.boddingtons.comwww.fosters.com.au/beer/about/brands/beer/vic_bitter.aspThis is that Canadian micro brewery that i was talking about. So I'm not sure how available it is oversees. www.sleeman.com/en/html/beer/index.htmOhhhh. I almost forgot about good O'l Stella's www.stella-artois.com/landing.html

Not really a drinker anymore, but when i did, it was pretty much the basics: BEER: St. Pauli Girl, Heineken. None of those stout or dark beers...i've got enough hair on my chest. LIQUOR: Southern & 7, Jack & Coke, and if you can make a really good Bloody Mary, you've won my heart! WINE: White Zinfindel. (Told you i was into the basics)

Beer: Waterloo Dark!!! (microbrewed in Kitchener, Ont.)
or Maximum Ice from Labatt's (7.1%)
Rickard's Red is good too.
Do like Guiness and Caffrey's
But wine is a passion with our family!!!
Wine: Every day wine - Love a bottle of "Fat Bastard" - Chard, Shiraz or Cab Sav
White: Savignon Blanc - Cat Pee on a Gooseberry Bush from NZ, or Jafflin Pouilly Fuissé but Pouilly Fume will do in a pinch.
Red: Love the bold reds - Chateauneuf du Pape, Wolfe Blass Platinum Label Shiraz 1999 (we have a bottle of this in the cellar waiting to be opened), Son Ginestra 2001 Barolo, Napa Valley Cab Sav.
Champagne: Dom Pérignon (first bottle we ever had was 1980), Veuve Clicquot and Perrier-Jouët.

I once had to "instruct" a bartender in New Orlean's how to make a Caesar and he just didn't believe me that anyone would drink "clamato juice". I adore Caesars!! Canadian habit, I guess!

What's in it, and what's clamato juice? A mix of clam juice and tomato juice. Mott's makes the best IMO. And they make the spicy "rimmer" (black pepper, celery seed, lemon powder etc.) to go with it. The way I make a Caesar is - 1 and 1/2 oz. of vodka, a couple of good splashes of Worchester Sauce, dash of fresh squeezed lemon juice, couple of flicks of Tabasco sauce (depends on how spicy you want it), top off with clamato juice and ice and stir. My favourite garnishes (very important part of the drink!) are Strubb's Dill Pickles and a stick of celery with a slice of lemon in it (but I have had Caesars with a shrimp on the rim and they were good too). Most bars that I have been in serve Caesars *much* more than Bloody Marys. They are a great drink if you have had a long day and need your "veggies" as a "pick-me-up"!

These are also in Buffalo NY (Niagara falls area) as well as Labatt and a ton of others. I just had some Stella's at a party last night (a first for me) and it's pretty good stuff (dry). I am generally not a beer drinker but I do like mixers (Slammers, Irish cream and milk, BV and coke, rum runners, and many many others!
