I have done the above on these forums by accident, you know why because I did not realise, I am new to the boards and I am excited about talking about the show. You have posted many more posts here than I have. Please go back and modify your posts that contain spoilers; I also ask the same of all you others. There are probably still people who haven't read this thread (and in some months, the US viewers will probably visit the same thread . . . ).

I have done because it was pointed out. I have posted a lot on here but its my first forum! I am not getting at you personally your posts all seem well thought out and valid. It just seems that unless you know otherwise the other chap might have done it by accident. It would be a shame if some of the posters were put off posting beacuse they made a mistake and are not as robust as you or I as regards to critisism. It might be worth sticking a 'part 2 thread *spoilers*' up with the show looming, what do you think? People seem keen to talk about it! Anyhoo on with the show...............

The phrasing was poor, but I agree with the basic idea. Starbuck is strong outside, weak inside. She is insecure. If she were interested in someone, she would act disinterested. And given anyone's interest, she would act disinterested. To do otherwise would be to make herself vulnerable. And deep down, she doesn't have the cajones to do that.
In Gia (1998), Angelina Jolie plays an aggressive, rule-smashing girl, who is insecure inside. She explains, "You scare the shit out of people so they can't see how scared you are." Sound familiar?
And anyway, Starbuck was not interested in Baltar, per se. Sleeping with him was basically to punish herself for not feeling worthy of Lee. (Maybe because they were once a couple, she cheated on him with his brother, then got engaged to his brother, then killed his brother?) She has a very poor self-image. She wanted Lee, but she feels worthy of only being used by scummy Baltar. She would totally freak if she knew Baltar was in love with her now, too, not feeling worthy of even Baltar's love.
Regarding the timeline, the introductory 5 minutes to this episode does not take place all within one day, nor are the events arranged sequentially in time, I believe. Just keep that in mind.

The phrasing was poor, but I agree with the basic idea. Starbuck is strong outside, weak inside. In a way but she is even more interesting because although she has flaws or weaknesses to her character she must also have great strengths inside. To say she was just weak inside does not do her justice. For example to be a pilot, to crash land and survive on that planet, her tactical mind. They are all down to being strong mentally as well as physically. Put her in a combat/dangerous situation and she excells, put her in a relationship she blows up.

I have done the above on these forums by accident, you know why because I did not realise, I am new to the boards and I am excited about talking about the show. I dont consider myself an idiot or any of the other names. If I wanted to be insulted I would go to another forum. I picked this one because its a friendly place. I would say it is more of a training issue. I find it as annoying to read insults and abuse as you probably do to read spoilers! Exceptionally well-said.

Regarding the timeline, the introductory 5 minutes to this episode does not take place all within one day, nor are the events arranged sequentially in time, I believe. Just keep that in mind. I do. However, within the context of the episode, there is a linear progression from teaser to acts. Also, the Boomer / Valerii edits are specifcally juxtapositioned to highlight the fact they have both reached the same point: notice how Valerii tells Helo to "do it" (shoot her) precisely as Boomer first put the gun to her mouth. Did these two events take place at the same time? THAT is by no means certain. However, it is interesting to speculate why the two were placed just so. *Purely* to demonstrate the "weakness" of the character (both having been driven by their emotions to reach the same point), or to possibly hint that there is still, despite the distance, a level of connectivity between the various instances of a particular model?

OK maybe I'm too susceptible to flights of fancy, but when I heard that bit about "Apollo's Arrow unlocking the Tomb of Athena", I could not but help wondering if they really meant an ancient artifact and an architectural location on Kobol.
Instead, Apollo's Arrow would be Lee's phallic thingamajic, and Tomb of Athena would actually be the Womb of the chick-who-prayeth-to-Athena-along-with-Artemis . . .
But looks like it will take a while for the two of them to get it on.

It would be a shame if some of the posters were put off posting beacuse they made a mistake and are not as robust as you or I as regards to critisism. I did try to be humorous in my berating, but in retrospective, it might still have come out as too harsh. So, no real insult or injury was intended; if anybody's feelings were hurt or they were offended -- I am sorry. But I personally do feel rather strongly about spoilers, so I will stand by my words. (Or can you say you're sorry and still stand by what you said?)

Absolutely. Considering I've been mapping the timeline through my reviews, this is a "Doh!" moment for me, as I should have realised the implcations of the glasses & dress sooner and put things in perspective, timeline-wise (i.e. approx. 24 hours between teaser and Act 1). Glad to have been useful
