What about audit trails, I cant use a phone at work without it being logged. Baltar can fire up a nuclear bomb without it being logged, not fair!
I want a six for Xmas, I think I'm going to get a laptop, boo hoo!

I really liked this episode, I know some people may not like the comedy in this episode but I think it was done quite well. I just loved seeing everyones face around the dinner table as Tigh's wife ranted on and on....they all looked like they wanted to pelt food at her ;D I know I certainly would have Meanwhile what the dickins are we going to do when this season is over? Hurry up season 2!

I liked the episode but have one small niggle/question. Did Boomers test take 11 hours? Cos it didn't seem like it...

I liked the episode but have one small niggle/question. Did Boomers test take 11 hours? Cos it didn't seem like it... Boomer's test was interleaved with several other storylines through the episode. The scene cuts make it difficult to estimate the total time used in any single storyline.

Gotta say that when Edward James Olmos gets older and his good looks fade away and he no longer gets acting jobs, he can always begin directing ;D
I really liked his style in this episode and would definitely want to see more episodes directed by him.
Naturally Adama is so central a character that it would cause problems, but I'm sure there will be episodes where he could leisurely direct . . .

Setting up the tape to record and noticed that DirecTV had the title of the episode listed as "Tigh me up, Tigh me down"

This is the episode that got me wondering "Why in the world don't Adama and Roslin insist on blind testing with the Cylon detector?" That is, is it really a good idea for Baltar to *know* who he's testing? Why not insist that the identity of each subject be hidden from him so he can't try to frame anyone? Even if they think he's trustworthy, it's too dangerous to put that kind of power in anyone's hands.

It opens with Roslin wondering if Adama is a Cylon. Leoben told her so. Adama is on the bridge of the Galactica watching as Roslin watches him. Colonel Tigh is trying to give up the booze and tosses the bottle away. Adama has been secretive however which is irking Roslin. She and Billy talk on the subject. Billy can hardly believe that Adama is a Cylon. Roslin believes he has been replaced. I told you the Cylons were actual people. Remember the Return of the Pegasus storyline where Cain is replaced by a Cylon. Billy has other things on his mind, namely Dualla. The two of them are watching Viper flybys and getting cozy. Dr Baltar is working in his lab with Six leering over his shoulder. He gets a call from Roslin that she wants him to rush the test on Adama's blood to see if he is a Cylon which she accused Adama of a short time ago. Baltar decides it is time for fun and he and Six begin to go at it. Baltar has his pants down when Kara enters. Baltar states he is doing exercise. Kara tells him to zip up his fly. Adama decides to head for a ship, the Risingstar without tellang anybody. At the same time a Cylon ship approaches. Vipers are in the air. Lee is in one of them and manages to score a hit. The Raider jumps in and out a number of times. Tigh is in command and acts exemplarary. Tigh wants to know where Adama is during this crisis but no one knows. Suddenly Tigh is told that Adama is requesting permission to come aboard. Tigh greets him in the landing bay to be surprised by the package he has, Tigh's wife Ellen. Tigh and Ellen have a short reunion.
On the bridge Adama is told of the situation. Kara is there and they believe if the Raider is electronically monitored information can be learned about the FTL drive. Adama agrees. Tigh and Ellen have a short reunion in his quarters where Ellen says she is sorry for what happened. Tigh states it is all in the past and the two of them begin to get ready for SEX. Ellen is also giving him shot after shot of ambrosia. Tigh is back on the sauce. However before they can actually do it, Tigh is interrupted by a call. Somebody wants to see him. It turns out to be Roslin who unloads her suspicions about Adama. Tigh doesn't believe them even defending Adama's disappearance. "He was with my wife," states Tigh to her disbelief. Baltar is still working in the lab when he gets a call from Roslin asking about Adama's blood. The doctor must inform her that he is working on another sample, someone named Ellen.
The Tigh's have dinner with Adama, Roslin, and Lee. At the dinner Ellen asks about Zach only to find out he is dead. Ellen calls Adama, Bill a number of times and asks about Earth. "That is classified." She looks at Tigh and says she should be given the answer because that is the privilege of being married to an XO. Ellen decides to play footsie with lee under the table to the point he excuses himself to clear the dishes. The dinner ends and Tigh and Ellen leave. Ellen grabs Lee's butt before departing. Adama, Lee, and Roslin discuss the situation. Ellen Tigh boffed half of the men in the service while Saul was in space, ie the same as Eddington's wife in In Harm's Way. Tigh stayed with her because he loves her.
On the bridge, something is happening with the Cylon fighter. It is realized that the Raider is playing games. Adama orders it destroyed. Hotdog is the one out there but his ship is struck as the raider moves away. Vipers are launched to intercept. This show has none of the launch sequences on os. The Raider heads for the bridge on a suicide run like in Fire In Space. However it is destroyed by two Vipers which suddenly appear. Tigh had a hunch the Cylons might try this.
We next see Tigh and Ellen are in a corridor where Ellen begins to taunt him sexually. Dr Baltar comes along with the news that Ellen was tested to see if she is human. This infuriates Tigh. On top of that Ellen states that on his visits Adama touched her inappropriately. Tigh heads for Baltar's lab to confront Adama. There is a scene and Baltar calls for order. Tigh confronts Adama which denies being inappropriate. Adama also is stunned to find that Baltar is running behind schedule because he was ordered to give top priority to Adama's blood. Baltar says Ellen isn't a Cylon. Ellen says to Adama not to frag with her and he tells her the same. She exits the room. Six whispers to Baltar about the true results of the test and he says he will never tell. We see him spinning in his chair with a smirk on his face. In his reality him and Six are once again doing it. Adama and Tigh have words in the corridor. Adama says he knows the effect Ellen has on him, a destructive one. Adama also mentions the booze and Tigh says he had something to celebrate, Ellen's return. Adama thanks Tigh for being the one to save their sixes by having a few Vipers in the right position to intercept the Raider. Adama shakes Tigh's hand.
========================================
Thoughts:
This one rates a B+ The dialogue was for the books and it didn't bore one. There is the right mix of action and drama. Lee didn't annoy this week. Kara wasn't in it long enough to ruin it. McDonnel was excellent as well. Callis is superb.

My two cents here: 1. We learn that Col. Tigh is a very good officer when sober. His one flaw is that he loved (now that she is alive, loves) his wife who is an adultress. I'm sure that many men here could testify to the effect of finding out that your love is cheating. Tigh was depressed and manifested that depression by drowning his sorrors in booze.
2. We find out how deeply Adama cares for people (first his son, then Starbuck...). He is very loyal to people he cares for and sometimes he doesn't always do the rational thing when these people are concerned. Thus in this ep we have him acting suspiciously because he knew the pain that "Mrs. Floozy" would have on his first officer.
3. The President is obviously be affected by the kamarla (spelling?). Thus Leobon's hint that Adama is a Cylon is carrying much more weight than if she were thinking rationally.

i thought this was a very good episode. i, too, hate Mrs. Tigh and hopes she gets shown the airlock soon. And although the episode was basically about her character, it didn't ruin the rest of the show for me. Besides, her character was totally forgotten with that last scene of Baltar spinning in his chair with a creepy grin on his face and everyone else talking to each other, oblivious to him. Classic! Very good point. Did anyone notice that right when Starbuck said that the raider had been playing with them all along was the exact moment that the raider went kamikazee? Who was in that scene on the CIC? i liked when Adama arrived back in the Raptor and asked Tigh for permission to come aboard, but that's just me--i really dig all that military protocol stuff that the writers inject into the storylines. Also--and this might be a nitpick--but if Baltar is working on such a high security project, so much so that he has only one assistant that we know of (Gaeta), why are so many people allowed into his lab? He's got vials and vials of blood samples, computers running highly classified programs, and a nuclear warhead in there; but it seems anyone from high command to a colonel's drunk wife can just walk on in at any given moment. Regardless, it was a 4/5 on my scale until the last scene, which brought it up to 4 1/2 out of 5; so i'll just round it off to 5/5. ;D
