Hey guys,
I am not sure how to start it. Hey I may be only deaf fan out there that check this out. Hopefully not. But this forum is basically for information that people like us might have missed out and I am here to help add information so we can not miss anything. I can't get all information without some people who are kind enough to help. This forum is also for us to talk about things from deaf person's point of view, whatever it's characters, FX, sign language, etc. Any questions are welcome here. Even rant against captioning, subtitles, or attitude. But be nice and no cuss, disrespect, and etc. Be civil about it.
Of course hearing people are also welcome here.
I will come and check on here, to add more information and to ensure this forum won't sink out. And please do send your opinion about this forum.
Right now, I am going to post promo and previews that I got from someone. And I am going to post sound effect that I thought should be add.
I got one favor to ask of you guys, if you somehow are able to find information on special features of miniseries DVD please do bring those to here. For as right now they are not captioned so and I have no idea where to find typed information.
Ok, I will try my best to give you what you would need. So guys enjoy!

This promo is one of few first promo to air before the series start. This promo also can be found at website www.scifi.com/battlestar and go click on download then trailor. The promo there is named Cast. This promo is one of my few favorite ones. “Cast” trailer from www.scifi.com (All of the speech is in voice-over.) Gaius Baltar: We have no place left to run. There are less than… Laura Roslin: 50,000 of us left, but our enemy won’t stop… Number 6: until the human race is gone. We are… Kara Thrace (Starbuck): struggling to hold it together, but every… Lee Adama (Apollo): small victory keeps us going. It’s going to take… William Adama: everything that we’ve got to survive. The world is over. The fight is just beginning.

Ok this may be hard for me to explain. But you know the red eye that moves like this . They do make sound and I didn't know becuz of course it wasnt captioned. I dont know why, maybe becuz it was so low and hard for people to type it down for TV. But one explain is...it sounds like metal rubbing against other metal. (Weird huh?) Other explain is...The 'Woo-wow-Woe, Woo-wow-Woe' sound that KIT (the Trans Am) makes is pretty close though the tones are more bell harmonic than electronic in the BGOS Cylons. (this I got from IMDB) For anything else, I dont know. I even dont know if cylon raider does make same sound or not. This I thought you should know...after all their eyes (or one eye?) are cool.

What a wonderful idea, Silentwolfdog, great way to use the forum as a way to bring the full experience to other viewers!
From what I gather, it looks like you're saying that previews for upcoming episodes shown at the end of the current episode (ie. if they are showing episode 9 this week, the previews are for ep. 10) are not closed-captioned, right? Would it be helpful for someone to just jot down the dialogue clips in writing? I wouldn't mind giving it a whirl, that is if you don't mind it being done "by hand" as I watch the preview.
Let me know...

members.tripod.com/john_larocque/tns/archive.htmlI have the deleted scenes described in detail. There's a transcript version of the miniseries linked on the main page. "From orgiinal script to the final version" discusses both the draft script (which you can find online) and deleted scenes on the DVD.

I am quite hearing impaired myself.
Does anyone else here wind up having to make nicknames in their heads for some of the characters cause you can never hear/understand their names? Like, Leodon (I think) is weapons dealer guy, there's Kevin Spacey guy (they called him that in the commentary), Mandy Moore girl (Cally, the chick in the landing bay, doesn't she look a little like Mandy Moore in a walk to Remember to anyone else?)

Hi! Welcome to this discussion.
Hmm, I am not sure how serious hearing impaired you are, but have you tried using closed captioning? People that I know who are not hearing impaired themselves sometimes do use captioned mostly to clear up something that wasn't clear enough by hear alone.
It took me a while to remember how to spell some of people name especially strange name like Leoben and Baltar. Sometimes there's a name that I can never learn how to spell, either I am too lazy and/or always forgot how to spell it. But I wondered if I had to make up names for some people in the past. Maybe I did in the past, if TV show is new and/or name is long and take a while to remember, so other name would be make up just to fill in for a while. Until I finally remember it. But captioning does helps.
That's interseting stuff you bring up. It makes me wonder about it myself. Anyone also did what he just mentioned?
