There is this other guy who is a failed TV writer and he has a web site where he rails against Berman and Braga and Enterprise. Of course, the reason why none of his ideas or scripts are considered is because there is a corporate conspiracy against his and not because his ideas suck. It was here: www.firsttvdrama.com/index.php3 but it is gone now. I think that Lang is the same sort of guy he has been trying to break into the TV and film industry for years and has met with no success; therefore, now all he can do is vent his frustrations on the net. The problem with the other guy is that he has no idea how to go about his ideas. He could go to film school to give himself more credibility, write books instead of a show, or make the dang thing as an independent film with a low budget (I think 5yearmission.com is proof that genre films will soon be dominated by free-ware made by fans).

Yeah I just love those boards: All TNS fans are welcome however, do not write anything inflamortory against TOS and when someone writes an inflamortory remark about TNS do not defend it because that would be considered inflamortory against TOS…whatever, they can have the 1970's they were not that great anyway. Of course Kingfish is free to come here and post against TNS all he wants.

Hey, Mustex. I had to go check out the Battlestar Pacifica site you mentioned, and the impression I got is...what a bunch of babies! Did you see the post where they announced that they banned you? Actually no. My banning means I am incapable of even viewing the board. Someone please post a copy of it, or send it by PM to me (I'd like to see the responses as well).

Neat moniker, but I think you have me mistaken with someone else! VPM Oh. I didn't think she'd be here. Basically she's an obsessive freak who posts over at Battlestar Pacifica with a feeling of "Mustex, being a TNS fan, is too inferior to directly respond to. Instead I'll simply make vague accusations that he's 'attacking' us, and hope my superior, TOS based, intellect will rub off on him." She probably acts the same way towards other TNS fans, but I can't be sure, because there aren't any over there. Her board is even worse. She claims it's devoted to TOS, and hence even MENTIONING TNS in a non-aggressive manner is bannable, but yet for some reason she let's people discuss every OTHER franchise in existance from LOTR to Star Wars.

I have to say the first image that came to mind to me was somebody who was very lonely and every night just went home and masterbated until they were raw. I AM NOT LANGUATRON!

Mustex, who posts here sometimes, hounded him on the Skiffy boards before he was banned, and then followed him around the boards like a puppy dog for quite some time. My whole problem is when someone's arguments are crushed like insects, and everybody knows they've lost, EXCEPT THAT PERSON!

How could we do that when Cate Blanchett is? O.k., you I can burn.

It is my opinion that the hardcore TOS community is rather small and of no significance to the well-being of TNS. Once the numbers come in that will be apparent. The only place their presence is felt is on message boards and believe me folks as far as the average viewer is concerned those of us who sit around and debate this stuff are geeks. Most people watch the show and then get on with their lives and tune in again next week without much fanfare. We do not need an agenda because the show speaks for itself and the ratings will as well. I believe that most TOS fans are like me they had no idea that there was even a continuation effort or Second Coming or whatever it is called. I only learned of it when TNS mini was announced and I sought out some information about it. I welcomed TNS even with its changes although I was skeptical; however, when the mini aired I was immediately won over. I accept TNS for what it is and I rarely compare it to TOS. I believe this is how most fair-minded TOS fans feel. In every paradigm there are those who make up a fridge hardcore faction, they are resistant to change and if there is to be change, it must fit their model. I love Logan’s Run and there is a proposed re-make in the works, they are suggesting many changes to the original and some of them have me nervous, such as changing the lifecycle from 30 years to 18 (that way we can lots of young hotties). I am not sure about this; however, I will give it a chance and I will not form a coalition to rail against it, but I am sure someone will. In the end, it will be made and it will garner new fans too young to remember the original and life will go on. A new generation of BSG fans who know little of the original or find it too campy and far removed to relate to it is being forged and no amount of bashing by a group of fans in their mid-thirties-to-late forties will affect the viewing habits a younger sci-fi starved generation. Let me put this more bluntly: I want something TNS related to donate money to.

Some good thoughts, and you're heart is in the right place, as always. A few things: You'd have an easier time convincing Jerry Fallwell to advertise Marilyn Manson records on his show So we go for option B, and form our own revival group. The "Battlestar Duality," or something like that. Awww, and since you're the admin, I can't burn you at the stake. Yes, but some have actually proposed otherwise (no, Lang is not the only one). Any suggestions for the name? And we have to have triad. I don't care if it isn't in the new one.

O.k., the TOS community has their political agenda (revival) that helps to hold them together, I think we need one or more of our own. Here are some suggestions:
1. Either convince CFF to buy commercial time in an episode of TNS (the Farscape people could do it), possibly with "Second Coming" footage, or create a parrallel orgainization for the purpose of putting up such a revival ad.
2. Prove that Tricia Helfer is the hottest woman in science fiction or fantasy. To do so, find out how much she charges for photo shoots, hire her, and have her pose in costumes worn by her rivals (Princess Leia's harem outfit, Cassie's socialator outfit, etc.).
2a. Have James Callis pose with her (he can stand-in for Jabba).
3. Establish once and for all, even with the detractors, that our show is NOT AS BAD AS G80!
4. Get a revival of TOS going (goes along with #1), to prove that they CAN coexist.
5. Make sure the Chief comes back.
6. Get the Chief a chance to write his own episode.
7. Hold our own convention by season 5.
8. Get Richard Hatch novels.

Ew FILTH! I think it's time you took your stakes and 'torch the heretics' ambitions away from innocent folk (like moi and caseOrange who defend Trek!) and set them to better use against such fiends as these. Go Mustex, go! ;D HERE HERE!

I think this kind of stuff stems from the built-in animosity towards sci-fi fans from "legitimate" media. As far as the entertainment magazines, TV shows, and newspapers are concerned, any sci-fi fans might as well be the stereotypical "Trekkies" seen in costume at conventions. It doesn't occur to many of these reviewers that the majority of science fiction fans are also intelligent, thoughtful, discerning people who know quality when they see it. The EW critic who reviewed PKW said if the Farscape fans did another revival campaign, he'd be involved.

Both fandoms now have a common enemy: "Entertainment Weekly." Please note their comment on the new Galactica:

O.k., after I go off to college next fall I hope to get a new laptop, and will probably have access to a high-speed connection. At that point would anyone be interested in an unofficial TNS vs. TOS tournament in some online game (neutral people can just pick their favorite of the two)?
