From what the Brit fans say about episode # 4 the show is a lock for a 2nd season!
But just in case :
"Lords of Kobol, hear my prayer, and grant this awesome show its deserved second season, and while we're at it, grant BSG TNS a full seven seasons, and lots of Emmys, if that's not pushing it, oh Lords of Kobol."
There, that should do it! ;D

Tigh uses hell sometimes. He was also rumored to use Christ once but I never actually heard it. It would be odd as their religon seems to be based in a Greek system and Chriest wasn't around during that period. I know that Tigh said, "Jesus" in the mini, that might be what you're referring to. It's in the scene in the beginning, when Cmdr. Adama & Tigh are in Adama's quarters & Tigh is looking at the old pic of the commander & his two sons. The camera goes to Adama & you hear in the background, "Jesus". Just to make sure, I put the closed captioning on (DVD), and sure enough, Tigh said it! I was also puzzled as to why he would say this, personally I think that this was an oversight & it slipped through, being that most of us use it as an exclamation. The writers need to come up with a list of cool swear words like FRAK! It would make it a lot more realistic!

I think that when the series (TV shows AND movies?) comes to it's end they will find, like someone peviously mentioned, something directing them to Earth & that will be it. They should NEVER show them actually getting there. I would be silly. I hope they find one of our deep space probes that wandered out of our solar system & they know from its markings & construction that it came from us. Then they can all rejoice & celebrate! Maybe have them make audio contact with the international space station or something or someone can make a forward jump ahead of the fleet & come back with long range scans showing Earth. I hope that if they do happen to show Earth, that it is a future Earth & we are not freaked out by it & try to start an interstellar war. If some a-hole like W is in charge of the U.S. that would be the likely scenario!

First to Prism700 hello tighe/roslin your right she would chew him up and spit him up in all of five minutes he thinks he is tough but you have to remember his mrs has slept with half of the fleet and he the wimp still takes her back time and time again. No roslin would wear the trousers in that relationshiop and she'd get bored with that in no time. to 13cylon Hello there you have a great sense of humour the whole original starbuck/apollo thing would put you off the whole idea all right kara/lee perfect together shes allready in love with him.........spoiler warning........ she gets together with gaius and calls out lee's name in the throws of passion talk about a spanner in the works nasty............... as to the lovely callie i think the chief would be good to her and he comes accross as a geniunly nice sort of guy i like him..... as to the prez . the only man who would be able to handle laura's independant streak would be the commander and im not just saying that because im a roslin/adama shipper its true i am.......... lee would be half afraid of her though they would have great fun between the sheets then she would realize she wasnt challenged enough in the relationship and leave it......... with commander adama laura would never be fully sure where she stands hes a moody sod.............. and in spoiler here kobols last gleaming part 2 youll see a prime example of how he can let his emotions run away with him................. she would be almost on egg shells around him he'd be a honking big challenge and there is nothing a school teacher likes more than a challenge i train people as part of my job im speaking from experience here................ yep a challenge and it would be interesting to see how they would play it have them tearing strips off each other in between love scenes oh yep id pay to watch good quality stuff like that. do you all remember dynasty the whole alexis / blake thing love /hate or jr/sueellen from dallas............. the love hate thing works and goes down a real treat on screen .....plus if you add to this the fact that the two of them have great onscreen chemistry and are not appossed to the idea well who am i to question fate serendipity rules Hello, AmandaC, I am glad to know that Gaius hooks up with Kara, they have good chemistry, & both have strong egos! I disagree about Tigh & Roslin, they would be cool, & I don't think Tigh is a wimp, he is just one of those poor saps that was in love with the wrong person! He also seems like the gritty type at work, but when it comes to his personal affairs, he doesn't have the same gritty attitude & ends up being too soft. Late...

What I want to know is who's hooking up with my girl Cally! She needs to have someone, 'cause in real life a doll like her would have multiple suitors chasin' after her! ;D I would!!!

I think "Captain Apollo" & the Pres. should hook up! She looks like she wants to rob the cradle! ;D Seriously, I don't think about 'shipping much, but since they "need to start having babies", some 'ships need to get going! Billy & Dee look like they're going to get together, if Billy can stop acting like a dork around women. I guess Lee & Kara are going to get busy. (Notice how I referred to them by their actual names & not their call signs? It still sounds WEIRD to say that APOLLO & STARBUCK are going to do the nasty, remembering the genders of the original two in BSG TOS!!) I was hoping that Baltar & Kara were going to get together, but seeing how she blew smoke right in Gaius' face I don't think she has the hots for him! Anybody think that Roslin will make a hook-up? Cmdr. Adama is too obvious, so maybe Col. Tigh is the man for her? Huh? That would be freaky, they get into a heated argument & then suddenly they grab each other & go at it! ;D He's on the rebound from his estranged wife & she is the lonely school teacher, ..... BTW, does anyone know if Laura Roslin was married before the Cylon attacks? She doesn't wear a wedding band & I have never heard her utter a word about her personal past! Anyone know? Later!

This ep was frakin' brilliant! ;D I agree with Dangermouse that it still wasn't as good as "33", but it was the best after that. I really shouldn't rate or compare any eps, for they are all perfect so far. I had tears in my eyes during the Cmdr. Adama & Starbuck scene, talk about intense. I know that they will eventually resolve this, but I don't think that Adama will ever feel the same about Kara. Their relationship has been forever changed! Is Baltar the man or what?! He rocks when playing cards, which makes me think that he's finally found a refuge (albeit a temporary one) from Six. At the table, he is the cool one, & is the man in control, being that he is of superior intellect. I can't wait 'til next Friday, 6 frakin' days!!

All great points, so far! We still don't know what kind of man Zarek really is! Definitely a great writing job! I realize that this ep & Zarek in general has stirred up some feelings. I hope that they don't polarize the posters on this board the way the people are here in the U.S. right now! Anyway, "Bastille Day" was an interesting examination of people & their relationship with government. Here's some quotes by Thomas Jefferson that I think apply to this episode : "The people are in truth the only legitimate proprietors of the soil and government." T.J. - 1813
"It is the people, to whom all authority belongs." T.J. - 1821
"The ultimate arbiter is the people of the Union." T.J. - 1823
"Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." T.J. - 1776
"The force of public opinion cannot be resisted when permitted freely to be expressed. The agitation it produces must be submitted to." T.J. - 1823
"The boisterous sea of liberty is never without a wave." T.J. - 1820Just a few quotes by a man who was actively involved in a revolution & the subsequent creation of a nation.

Prepare yourself to be very suprised then Really? Ihope you're right. I have been a scifi fan since I was little & no other episode of TV has ever affected me the way that "33" did. Both "Water" & "Bastille Day" were excellent, but "33" will always be with me. Ronald D. "Freakin" Moore - So say we all!

Great ep all around. Hatch exceeded my expectations so he was a joy to watch. Lot's of people (U.S.) comparing this one to the two eps last week, & let me just say now that "33" will probably never be topped! That was the single best hour of TV that I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. I won't compare "Bastille Day" to the previous 2 because this one was different, we're finally getting down to telling the story of how this "rag-tag" fleet is going to get along with each other, not just how they're going to survive. I disagree wholeheartedly with something caseOrange said previously in his post about how Zarek should have been shot down like a dog & that too much sympathy is given to terrorists. There are some people in history that have been labeled terrorists, but some, I repeat, SOME of them truly are freedom fighters. Nelson Mandela is a prime example. He was imprisoned because he was fighting for the rights of an oppressed people. I'm sure that Mandela or any "freedom fighter" that feels cornered would probably resort to kidnapping or violence if they had no other way of getting through to someone that will listen. I AM IN NO WAY CONDONING VIOLENCE. George Washington, the father of my country, if he had lost the revolution, would've hanged for his "violent and treasonous" acts! There is always a fine line, & sometimes it is crossed. Now, take Islamic Fundamentalist terrorists, they are real wackjobs! There whole fight is about a book that was written 14 or so centuries ago, & their myopic views come from a skewed view of the world according to their Koran. Zarek's fight seems to be about direct acts taken to oppress people of his colony. Religion does not seem to be the root of it, & a couple of people that seem intelligent (Lee & Billy), seem to give some credence to Zarek's plight. Just my 2 cubits.

This ep was great! Boomer's plight is a fantastic story! My friends & I have a lot of theories about what has happened & will happen to her! I cringe every time she is on screen now! Totally original concept, this is what scifi & BSG should have always been, compelling & addictive. Incredible start, Mr. Moore, BRAVO!!

5 out of frakin' 5!!!! "33". Incredible. Phenomenal. Intense. These are 3 words that I thought described the first 8 minutes, & then there was MORE!!! This had to be the best series/season opener in history! I have never been literally on the edge of my seat for an entire hour, but I couldn't relax for the entire show. The 33 minute concept was BRILLIANT! When we first catch up with the fleet they had already made like 240 something jumps, & they were on their last legs. I was right there with them, feeling their anxiety, cringing every time the clock got near 33 minutes & praying to the Lords of Kobol whenever the countdown got near zero! In my opinion there was nobody at all on the Olympic Carrier, I think the Cylons mimicked the pilot's voice to fool the fleet! They did the right thing! I feel like a scumbag, for every time that it seemed that Baltar was going to get busted for his crimes but got saved in the nick of time I was cheering for him! He is the villain but I feel myself rooting for him sometimes, because he is the ultimate "bad guy"! He didn't mean to be in this predicament but his ego & carelessness got him here & he is paying for it with 6's relentless sexual/psychological torture! This is the most interesting "romance/relationship" I have ever seen in an ongoing series! This series has RENEWAL written all over it!

OMG, these poor pathetic "TOS-or-nothing" guys need to "man-up" & face the facts, now that BSGTNS has STRONG ratings & is catching on more & more with each new ep that airs it is a bonafide hit & nobody but a few thousand people will be interested in a continuation or rehashing of BSGTOS. To me, TOS stands for "The Other Series". TNS is everything Galactica should be & should have been. I think that a lot of the whining & bitching & outright lying that TOS diehards do is a result of sour grapes. They waited for 14 years with baited breath for their baby to come back in all it's original cheddar-laiden glory & what they got was a dynamic, realistic, poignant, & engossing piece of work that will be talked about for decades among scifi fans. Richard Hatch is like their Messiah & if he doesn't get his way they will never be content. I am still in shock that RH appeared in a TNS ep, & he did a fine job. Which begs the question, do the TOS-only fans still see Hatch as their leader now that he "sold out" & soiled his TOS credibility by realizing that he'd better jump on board the new Galactica so he can be a part of something special, not just the same old tired concept??

OK, let me throw my 2 cubits in! First off, I'm a huge Enterprise fan, BUT I am a bigger BSG TNS fan! Enterprise was decent for seasons 1 & 2, but it was INCREDIBLE for season 3 & all of season 4 until the present time. The problem is that the whole Trek thing needs something to invigorate it, like TNG did back in the late 80's! I think that BSG TNS is gaining popularity & momentum week by week because it is much more believable & the characters act as we probably would in such a situation. This said, I think that Enterprise's 3rd season, with the entire season devoted to the Xindi arc, was one of the best seasons of scifi TV ever! They were dealing with a species that wanted to wipe out all of humanity, much like the Cylons. That season was more like a "Space Opera" in which all of the eps were interconnected & came to a conclusion. BSG TNS is working much the same way, with the whole season being a large arc, & having a couple of mini arcs within it. I honestly feel that if Enterprise had originally been broadcast on another network other than the crappy UPN, it would have done a little better! Needless to say, I'm an Enterprise fan who likes BSG TNS a whole lot more (Moore)!!

You gotta love RDM!! This guy is brilliant & has a pair of brass balls! I'm so glad that the creator of the show has come out & said he wouldn't let his own kids watch it!
I have always hated TV that is "cheesed-out" for kids! The original BSG had that quality to it, with the stupid mech daggit! And the original Boxey was a whiny little brat! We adults need a show like BSG TNS, a series that isn't afraid to show people being people! If you want to ruin a show, put in goofy things geared toward kids & tone down the reality & you have crap (BSG TOS).
This is probably the first scifi show of its kind, it is good enough to cross-over to different audiences, & well liked by both genders. It is realistic, not campy, & sexy, but not sleazy. It has violence, but it is not a gore-fest, & most of all it is not geared in any way toward the booger-eating rugrats. ;D
