Love Col Tigh - flaws and all. Given the series ending i can't wait to see how he copes with the pressure.

I think Sci-Fi will make a BSG spin-of, if the ratings are such successful for the following season(s). I hope not - lets not turn it into the equivalent of CSI (how many are they now?) In my opinion, the writing will get spread far too thin and the quality will diminish.

Given the quality of the show i have never had any doubts that BSG wouldn't get a second season.
Hope the show runs for about 5 seasons with approx 13 episodes per season. I agree that if they were to make a 22 episode season then the quality would suffer and they might lose viewers who aren't necessarily science fiction fans but like good drama. I wouldn't want it turning into a soap.
Besides i would be really surprised if the actors would want to do a 22 episode season - thats a lot more time and therefore a lot less time to do other work. Don't see Olmos, McDonnell, Callis or Bamber commiting to that.
P.s. EJO is only in his fifties i think.

Just my own impression, but I too think that Ellen was responsible for Vallance's death... not Tom Zarek. She has plans. Those plans include Zarek. Vallance was a threat to those plans. And she obviously has connections with somebody of influence who resides on the Rising Star, that she wants poor whipped Saul to chat with. Hmmm. The Rising Star. Wasn't that the ship that mysteriously and miraculously rescued her from Picon? NOT! Her presence there was never an accident. . I agree look out for Ellen Tigh next season. Her conversation with Tigh at the end was interesting...she is definately part of some scheme and i think she needs Tigh and his position in the military to assert influence or authority. The only thing i think she might be overestimating is Tigh's overall influence - he's a good officer but he is still unpopular with the crew. Will they follow him? Also will Ellen underestimate her husband's loyalty to his friend and Commander? Lets face it he owes Adama a hell of a lot and i think he has acknowledged that on several occassions (remember his chat with the President over whether Adama was a cylon?). I can't wait to see how this pans out

Having not long watched the episode i think it would be a laugh to have Richard Dean Anderson to play the part. He's leaving Stargate is he not? A two part episode would suit him.

Don't think Tigh and Ellen's marriage is based on mutual love by any means. For Tigh it is but I think Ellen has her own agenda. Without going into spolier territory i think this becomes apparent in later episodes through her discussions with other characters. Sorry AmandaC - didn't know there was a ringtone for the Old BSG never mind the new one. Good luck in tracking it down

Love your way with words AmandaC ;D I have no doubt the Tigh/Ellen/Zarek arc will be further developed. I don't expect to see a menage a trois between the characters - unless it involves guns! I mean Zarek isn't exactly Tigh's favourite person. However, i'm sure Ellen will have some scheme brewing especially given the turn of events after season 1. Poor Tigh...nest and vipers comes to mind

Poor Dr Baltar . I think he is quite pleasing on the eyes (and no i don't have a visual impairment). Although i think i would get tired of asking "Are you with me?" all the time.

I can't quite work out the whole Lee/Roslin attraction thing. I could specualte about many pairings but not these two. Maybe its just me but i have never thought there was any sexual attraction between these two characters. I think there is a bond of friendship and trust between the two which was established early on. I think this happened due to both characters being put into positions of leadership which obviously they weren't quite expecting or ready for so soon. So both can empathise with each other and for me this makes it one of the strongest friendships so far. Lee is also a principled young man - this came through in Bastille Day with his conversations with Zarek and (without going into spoilers) his actions in the final episode. I don't know if they will do this but i would like to see Lee reach a point where he seriously considers leaving the military and going into politics. However, the old man needs all the pilots available and Apollo is one of the best. What i don't see is any sexual attraction between Lee and Roslin and this in my opinion is confirmed in later episodes.... Prism (who needs to remember its only a tv show :

I didn't notice this but i see he still wears it in the series. I find this strange given that he is divorced and Lee told him in the mini that his mum was getting remarried. Which brings me to the question - when did Adama get divorced? I have read conflicting character bios which say Adama got divorced shortly after Zak was eight or got divorced shortly after Zak was killed. Not a particularly interesting point i know....but i'm a sucker for pointless trivia.

It seems to me that what makes BSG diffrent from many shows is how we see the characters emotional response to their situation.
Agreed. So far BSG has handled this pretty well without going into 'soap' territory or 'lets blow everything up and forget characterisation' scenarios.
For the most part i feel the characters and stories have been handled maturely and that's what sets it apart for me.
I think its fun to speculate who is suited to who like Tigh and Roslin or Adama and Roslin etc. But for me if the writers decided to go down any of these routes then they had better make it plausible because i would stop watching if it wasn't handled in a realistic way. Thats what i hated about star trek. Captain Picard or Cmndr Riker (or any character) would meet an alien, fall in love and then say goodbye all in the space of an episode without any repercussions.
I don't want to get into spoiler territory for those who haven't seen the later episodes of bsg but it will be interesting to see how the writers deal with the repercussions of several characters actions.

BTW, does anyone know if Laura Roslin was married before the Cylon attacks? She doesn't wear a wedding band & I have never heard her utter a word about her personal past! Anyone know?
According to her bio she isn't. Appears to have led a quiet life looking after her mother.
Your suggestion of a Roslin/Tigh relationship is interesting. Think it could be every bit as explosive as her and Adama but i think Roslin could get the upper hand over Tigh. Whereas with Adama...well all's fair in love and war. ;D
