I had this idea tonight, a long time ago on a website far, far away there was this place called Pedro's Shiporama. Pedro was a friend of mine and collected screen grabs of Star Trek ships, the intention being people making CG models of Trek ships basically had a one stop resource (though in actuality modelers needed many other sources) for helping them model ships. I thought since there are really only about four or five people modeling the new BSG ships right now fanwise, perhaps it would be time for something similar?
Now that I've got lots of space and extended bandwidth, and a working Gallery I thought I would open up something similar, give Vipertown one more thing to do.
I was having a hard time with that anyway.
So anyway, here's what I've all ready got. I've got every screen grab from the mini that was useful, and I've got Zoic renders of the Galactica and Mk II Viper. I could definately use more of those for other ships, but I haven't seen any yet. (Five views are the most helpful resource a modeler can find, actually it is the ONLY way to produce an accurate model, short of having an accurate physical model and using a pair of calipers) I could use some good screen grabs from the series. I'm looking for ships, equipment, costumes, locations... No faces-fill-the-shot grabs, we're not shippers, just modeling ships.
Anyhoo, you can post these in the forums at www.vipertown.net
Try not to email them to me, my email account isn't that big, though I will probably set up a seperate account for this soon. imageshack.us can host some images under a certain limit, if you have hosting trouble you can try them. I only need you to hold them temporarily till I can d/l them from you and get them on the server. Or work out a better submission system. (actually one is built in to Vipertown, I just have yet to unleash it...)
So until then, I've got refs of the Galactica up in the Gallery section, and I'll have more soon.
