OK, i realize that most of you don't have it, celebrate it, and definitely don't take a day off for it; but for what it's worth, i just wanted to say [glow=purple,2,300]Happy[/glow] [glow=green,2,300]Mardi[/glow] [glow=gold,2,300]Gras[/glow] to the rest of the world! ;D (Since there isn't a "drunk smiley", i used the tongue for this one). ;D ;D :D ;D ;D: ;D:-* ;D:P ;D

I wish I was down there in bayou land celebrating! I'm so jealous. I have always wanted to go to Mardi Gras. And I will, someday. My freshman year of college at I.U., several friends and I were indulging in some rather illicit substances , and we decided on a whim to just get up and go to Mardi Gras. We drove around to each of our banks, withdraw all our money, and starting heading south. We were somewhere in Kentucky, getting close to Tennessee, when we all started sobering up. We had papers due, exams, and I had to be at work the next day, as did most of the others. So, we turned around and headed back home. I always wondered what would have happened if we had kept on going south. Guess I'll never know.

Here's a few things to remember if you ever do make it, and these are important : ;D Drink, eat and party! (J.D. + Pizza = No, No) Stay back a few feet from the road. The push of the crowd could throw you in front of, or under, the float. ;D Drink, eat and party! (We used to carry a cooler full of Jungle Juice. Five gallons of Jungle Juice and ice.) The cops know almost everyone's drunk. As long as you're not acting like an a-hole or doing something stupid, they don't care. If anyone asks: Yes you know where, when and how you "got your shoes". ;D Drink, eat and party! (Popeye's chicken goes good with beer) Stay to the main streets. Everybody gets a souvenir--don't kill yourself trying to catch something, 'cause it'll come your way eventually. ;D Don't drink or eat too much or you'll puke on someone, and that's not nice...and they might puke back. It all ends at midnight. Seriously, the cops herd people out of the streets (literally, on horseback), the street cleaners come out and that's it. The bars close, and if you haven't found a place to go inside, you will go to jail. Right behind the horses and street cleaners is the paddy wagon! The reason is, it's all based around the Catholic observance of Lent, which begins at midnight on Ash Wednesday. I always wondered what would have happened if we had kept on going south. Guess I'll never know. ...sometimes you gotta say "what the frak." ;D

I spent the absolute worst week of my life in New Orleans, and I'd rather play naked Twister with the Golden Girls than ever set foot in that place again. I didn't even go during Mardi Gras, and I've still seen ghettos in the north of Europe cleaner than that place.... Not to get on a rant or anything...the people there are lovely

Like i tell people when they ask why i moved away, "i like to keep the stuff that i own". Anyway, i was just kinda getting swept up in the season when i posted this thread. Sorry.
