Last night I set the tape as usual for BSG because it comes on at 10pm which is my usual bedtime. Hey, I'm not a wimp...it's just that I get up at 5am everyday. Out of consideration for my husband and my son, I tape it on the TV in the bedroom waaayyy down the hall away from our rooms.
I got up this morning, ran down the hall, grabbed the tape and then a cup of coffee, and proceeded to watch. At the most exciting part of the episode (Starbuck is flying the Cylon ship and dodging shots from Apollo), the screen goes to static.
MY HUSBAND HAD TURNED OFF THE TV AND VCR LAST NIGHT!!! AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!
It will happen while he sleeps tonight.

Surely he has some good qualities that will spare his life! I admit if my hubby did something like that I would be a bit miffed. Luckily he has a healthy fear of anything electronic. ;D

Try using the timer function. Most VCRs have it set so you turn the machine off, and it comes on during the timer program, and pushing the buttons will not turn it off then. Experiment and see if you can idiot-proof your taping.
Also, you have a shot at getting eps 1-5 during the replay next week.

That all depends. Is he properly penitent?

LOL Heh...after seeing her pic in the other thread, I'll volunteer too...I worked at Radio Shack for five years. I not only know how to operate VCR's, I've set them up professionally, and I can hand-clean their innards (which fixes a lot of the problems they run into). Hmmm...Roner, you're from the great and powerful Chicago Imperium, too, ain'tcha? Callipygian, after you bump off the husband, I think one of us could give you a place to lay low, so to speak... ;D

My hubster is properly insured , but he was also properly penitent, so I have granted a stay of execution. Good men are hard to find, especially those who can cook and do laundry, so I guess I'll keep him. Darth - I would have set the timer on the VCR, and I'm actually one of the seeming minority who knows how to do it, but the clock on that VCR is broken. To make a long story short, I have 5 TVs and all have VCRs or DVD/VCRs, but time was critical as I forgot to program it in advance and the ep was starting. It's a safe bet that I now have it programmed for every Friday at 10pm. Thanks for the offers, Roner and Big Brother! Calli

Good luck in teaching him not to mess with the VCR on Galactica night! I'ts good to know there a couple of fellow Chicagoans on here. We Sci-Fi geeks have to stick together!

I'll have him if you don't. Just box him up and send him over frieght. Single and desperate - that's me Hopefully he has now learned his lesson, if not, a gentle whack around the head with a rolled up newspaper works just as well... or is that puppies?
