So c'mon! 'Fess up - attitudes to Valentines day folks! Is it a holiday you look forward to or is it one that you loathe with a vengance? Not only that - did you get any Valentines or send any this year? Enquiring minds and all that! Me? Over here in the UK, it's very much a commercial festival that celebrates romantic love. Which as someone who's been single for five years I personally ABHOR with every fibre of my being. When I was with someone, we did get each other cards but that was about it. Nothing fancy... namely because I felt that love should be celebrated 365 days, not just one... and that my birthday was in 28 days time and I wanted more of a fuss made of me then ;D I think the Americans have the right idea, in that it celebrates love in all it's forms, romantic, friendship, family... all of it. So with that in mind, other than buying flowers as a gift for my mum yesterday (not that I needed an excuse - she's my mum fercryingoutloud! Mums need to be blessed and made a fuss of always!) and sending e-cards to some good friends... not a one! And I sure as hell doubt I'm going to get any neither! Roll on 2/15 or 15/2!

If number of lovers is less than or greater than 1, then Valentine's Day is a source of stress.

Personally my husband and I have never celebrated Valentine's Day even when we were going out before we were married. But he does buy me "spur of the moment" gifts - he like gifts of love to be spontanious and so do I. ;D Because I am a Grade School teacher, I do get all hyped up for Valentine's Day for the kids in the class. It can be fun for them.

Valentine's Day is pretty low stress for me, compared to say, Christmas. In the U.S., it's about on the same level as Labor Day, except we don't get the day off and nobody bar-b-ques. ;D

Valentine's day is 2 days before my birthday, which, in basically every relationship I've ever been in, has just meant 2 good chances to have a fight over something in the same week. Yeah, I'm on a bit of a....sabbatical at this point in time

You know, I'm completely indifferent about it these days, although I did used to be all 'grrr anti-valentines'. This year, I completely forgot until I came on the board

I didn't hate Valentines - but.. This year I'm on my own for once unlike all the other lads and so I can't go out and have a night with them because they're all obliged to spout some lovey-dovey nonsense to girls who quite frankly could do better.... I don't mean that - that was my anger deamon speaking... Valentines sucks! J

I'm not a big fan...but that's probably mainly because I'm a 29-year-old sci-fi nerd who still lives with his parents and has never been on a date.

This day tends to angry up my blood. I haven't given or gotten anything since they stopped make kids give them to everyone in their class.

I haven't given or gotten anything since they stopped make kids give them to everyone in their class. i always hated that. We'd have to pick somebody's name out of a fishbowl, and sometimes people who mutually disliked each other would get paired up, or one wouldn't like the other. (Mind you, this was 3rd grade when all we knew about girls was that they had girl-cooties. ) The best ones were when i'd pick somebody's name that i didn't really know, and they didn't really know me, because it was no big deal. It would be like, "Here's yours", "Thanks. Here's yours", "Thanks", and then just walk away. i think the teachers hated when that happened. Me and my girlfriend don't really do much for Valentine's Day. If we have the money, we'll go out to eat. There's a gas station nearby that sells these huge, goofy VDay cards (probably about 1 1/2 feet tall), so i get her one of those every year.

How DID you manage it?
