Out of morbid curiosity, what's the connection to your screen name and the famous character from Scientology literature?
Trivia note: I've occasionally seen guys in a Xenu costume walking around Toronto Org on Yonge Street.

;D Well, mainly lets just say I find ol' Elron & the Scientologists endlessely entertaining...if you've ever read any of the actual facts about them then you'll know why. And if anyone ever asks me & they've never heard of it, its always another chance to educate someone about how ridiculous it all is...and how funny

Oh believe me, I've definitely heard of it.
I went through my "fascinated with COS" period several years ago became aware of the battleground that's been waged between members and such outfits as the Cult Awareness Network (which is now owned by COS?) and "Operation Clambake".
I once stayed at the Fort Harrison hotel before it was bought by the church in Clearwater. I've read hundreds of pages on Scientology but still find Dianetics difficult to read, and could never get past the first ten pages.

That's because its a bunch of unreadable psychobabble ;D. but wow, you stayed at the Fort H, huh...creepy. I got all wound up about it after I first learned all about the stuff a few years back, but I figure now that there's bigger issues out there, and at least they're good for a laff or 2 once in a while. I mean, have you seen Kirstie Alley lately?!?!

The Fort Harrison experience was in the late 1970s. Who would have thought they'd have bought up all that property including the hotel?
Yeah, I've been chronicling the "Fat Actress" storyline. I used to subscribe to a "factoid" called the ARS weekly archives. Basically someone culling the more significant Usenet postings in alt.religion.scientology. I got my weekly dose of Alley, Travolta and Cruise and several other celebs. Maybe I should check it out again.

Yup, so did I. Seems the guy doing ARS weekly quit at the beginning of the year & no one else has taken up the mantle yet Btw, have you seen the Upright Citizen's Brigade sketch "Psychotonomy"? Its hilarious! ;D

What a funny thread.
I've always thought of Scientology as the "Amway of religions" I was going to say "Amway of cults" but that's redundant.
If you think about it, its a pyramid scheme and the only way to advance to the next level is to buy all the books and materials and machinery. The movie stars like it because it's a "religion" that values money, so they can literally buy "salvation"
The fact that the USA gave them tax exemption is really really a joke, but hey. At least the Germans know the score, despite how many petitions the Hollywood types sign.
The other thing that's funny is their use of "religious technology" My favorite is the electricity zapper that you do periodically, which costs a lot (I seem to remember it was in the thousands of dollars, mentioned on 60mins or Nightline or something). It's supposed to align your molecules or somesuch.
