How is it that they left in... Starbuck: "Did they kiss your a$$ to your satisfaction?" but changed... Starbuck: "Striking a superior a$$hole!" to... Starbuck: "Striking a frackhead?" VPM

I'm making a list of the deleted scenes for the first hour of the mini's reairing on NBC. I hope others will follow my lead for Hours 2 & 3 as well as anything I missed. KR

Well- let me start the list of edits. NBC did show a leaner BSG which moved much quicker into the Cylon attack on the colonies. Those scenes deleted in the first hour of the re-airing included: the kissing sequence with Six & the officer aboard the space station at the beginning; all references to the tinhead Cylons (from the picture of one of TOS machines the officer views to a full-scale Cylon replica & a Cylon basestar in the Space Museum); the walk through of the Galactica as Adama is going over his speech (anywhere from 4-5 minutes chopped right there); Roslin finding out she has cancer; Roslin talking to Billy & then crying in the bathroom as their ship heads towards the Galactica; the baby killing sequence; Billy getting lost aboard the Galactica; a watered down version of Six's glowing spine (but they did show her back); Kara calling Lee a superior frackhead instead of superior [censored]; Adama's speech (was this cut out- I can't recall).
Someone can now take over for Hours 2 & 3. Feel free to add to my list too. KR

It is only 4:00pm for me that way I get to watch the Jets vs. Chargers live and the mini at 7pm (Hawaii time) ;D
Do you think the mini can net second place for the night (which would be so cool). As I assume the game would take first place.

So far, the into walk-thru with Doral was snipped, and I can't be sure because I was looking away for a moment, but I don't remember hearing Six's "are you alive?" line, but I coulda just missed it. There's more, but its only halfway over. All in all, they've done a great editing job so far; actually probably iless than I would have been in cutting, to the shows advantage.

There's more, but its only halfway over. "Are you alive?..." was cut. Part of the intro story was cut--the line about the actual war and armistice. It went from the Cylons deciding to kill their masters to the story of the station that was built for the meeting between the Cylons and Colonial Ambassadors. It mentions an armistice, but doesn't say how the armistice came about. (i don't like this because it implies that there wasn't a war fought--which there was-- and therefore no winner--which there was. This seems kind of essential to me because it also implies that the Colonials created the armistice to appease the Cylons. Where: Man creates Cylons - Cylons rebel - a place for armistice meetings is set up. The Colonials didn't wimp out in the 1st Cylon War!...i mean...in the Cylon rebellion!)They cut Six talking to Baltar about her religious beliefs and Adama and Tigh talking about Starbuck. Adama's speech during the decommissioning ceremony was cut (which really irked my nerves). i admit that after the first hour whizzed on by, and seeing all the parts that were omitted, it was starting to grate on me, so i left to pick up dinner and didn't care if i missed the rest. i really only tuned in for curiosity's sake to see what kind of butcher job NBC was going to do to it.

Brilliant job of reporting, gang! Considering some of the cuts that were made that seemed like they would have been better left in, I was a little surprised that they kept the scene or part of the scene when L. Roslin is talking to the little girl on the botanical garden vessel. If they cut Adama's speech during the decommissioning ceremony, did they cut the fly-by using the sample of music from the old series? (I missed that part completely ) Oh, I just remembered another thing they cut (but am not surprised that they did.) They got rid of the whole bit at the end where they show a lot of the characters on the Galactica in what I call scenes of the calm before the next storm - kind of going about their business, Adama and Apollo having an interaction showing them trying to mend their estranged relationship, Cally pulling a small part to be fixed/replaced out of a tight spot from one of the vipers as Tyrol replies its nice to have small hands, Boxey showing up in the officers quarters where Boomer is writing some stuff in a note book and she gives him a cookie on a plate, Starbuck smoking a cigar in her bunk, Tigh putting his booze bottle in the trash can, etc all set to the chanting music in the background. Another missed opportunity for the chanting music VPM

They didn't cut the part with baltar getting a handjob. Another thing that I noticed is when the basestars launch their Raiders, it looked like a swarm of bees. This was also similar in Independence day. However in BG we had no Will Smith. IMHO bullets don't work. The use of them is also similar to the battle at the end of ID 4 when someone states, "Let's plow the fields." I managed to see that there is another Sharon Varelli which I missed during the mini's premiere on scifi. I also noticed that Olmos after the fight scene looked older than Hatch and Benedict combined. Having read Generations which was written by Moore, where the script was given a number of overhauls, this work of his looked rushed.

So I'm curious about the intro.
Was it most of the text intro and the Colonial sitting in the station, and then they cut to the basestar blowing up the station?
Or did 6 and her two cylon escorts show up still?

MY RANT ABOUT NBC'S AXE JOB. I posted this yesterday on Media Blvd. in reply to the laundry list of assanine cuts. I've been reading alot of the posts in regard to NBC, and American censorship in general. I think everyone can agree that censorsip is wrong. And censorsip of a scene where the actual incident isn't shown, just implied... is ridiculous. But, I have to put the blame on NBC and the Republican Party. Not the American people. Yesterday, I was watching CBC Newsorld's program : Retro Reels. It's archival footage from the yesteryears. They were showing an old interview with the famous American singer Sammy Davis Junior. archives.cbc.ca/IDC-1-71-348-1927/conflict_war/draft_dodgers/clip4Sammy Davis said he feared for his life because he was interracially married. And, he hated the Vietanam war, and considered moving to Canada himself. Now, the issues themselves are irrelevant here. Sammy lamented the fact that if anyone questioned the status quo(in his case, the Vietnam war) they were immediately censored. They were called cowards, bad mouthed ... CENSORED. He came to the conclusion that American people weren't different: Speaking of the people who wanted to censor dissenters he said: "It's not that they outnumber us. They're better organized than we are. There are more good people than bad. But the bad people are organized... you can find them in the Yellow Pages. You know, you can't find the good people in the Yellow Pages. It's really true though... it's a bitter joke, but it's true. archives.cbc.ca/IDC-1-71-348-1927/conflict_war/draft_dodgers/clip4There's always an uproar reported when some weirdo is upset over seeing the reality of a human body. Or, the reality of death. But when NBC cuts those scenes, to placate these fracks, we hear nothing. These extreme right-wing nuts will raise hell when they see anything that offends them. But these kooks don't represent most people. The only reason they get their wishes fulfilled, and scenes cut from shows, is because they're better organized. They'll call in. They'll write. They'll complain. And these sissy corporate networks are more than happy to bend over. It's sad when you have to act like your grandfather who has too much time on his hands(writing and complaining) just so your show doesn't get censored. But, I have to put the blame on NBC and the Republican Party. Not the American people. i'm neither a rebulican nor a democrat, but i'd just like to add--as an example of censorship--that the Parents Music Resource Center (the people responsible for music labeling) originated with, and were helped along, by the following people: :-*Tipper Gore, wife of Al Gore - Democrat, Tennessee :-*Ethelynn Stuckey, wife of Williamson Stuckey - Democrat, Georgia :-*Sally Danforth, wife of John Danforth - Republican, Missouri :-*Sally Nevius, wife of former Washington D.C. council chairman John Nevius :-*Ernest Hollings - Democrat, South Carolina :-*John Hawkins - Republican, Missouri :-*Paul Trible - Republican, Virginia :-*Jim Exon - Democrat, Nebraska

And I would like to put on the record that the element of the Democratic party... They're called "The Democratic Leadership Council' are republicans. I consider Bill Clinton a republican in disguise. I was sickened by John Kerry. I support Ralph Nader, and other grassroots organizations. But, why I named the Republican's and not the Democrat's is because Democratic voters don't control the FCC. The FCC is controlled by the Republican party. George W.Bush appointed the head of the FCC, Michael Powell(Colin Powell's son). And, Michael Powell gets the go-ahead from loony Right Wing groups. They're the ones who form these so-called 'Family Values' groups. They're the ones who start smear campaigns and so forth. But, I do agree with you that Tipper Gore is a bitch!. I listen to Tupac Shakur, and a while back Dan Quale, C. Delores Tucker and Tipper tried to stop Tupac and Ice-T's music from being released. If they were responsible for this, I'd rip into them too. But, they're not. Anyways, use your common sense. It aint' Dennis Kusinich who's holding back a movie like Private Ryan. It's the Republican controlled FCC. www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2004-11-11-private-ryan_x.htmAnd it ain't 'Liberals' who'll complain that they saw: innocent characters die on film... or they saw Trish Helfer, and got an erection in front of their kids.

My personal politics are, at least on issues like Iraq and foreign policy in general, as well as fiscal issues, somewhere to the right of Genghis Khan...heck, I even voted for Bush last November (but had the good sense to be embarassed about it).
But even I am sickened by the idiots clamoring for official censorship on TV. Neither Janet Jackson's breasts nor Mickey Rooney's tushy nor Tricia Helfer snapping a baby's neck is any threat to the safety, sanity, security, or social order of the nation. Whether it's Joe Lieberman (who otherwise I quite like politically, oddly enough), Tipper Gore, Orrin Hatch, or Dubya, politicians in general need to stop telling people what can and can't be seen on television, in the movies, in music videos, or in video games.
Heck, one thing that greatly hurt BSG-TOS was the fact that its Sunday Night timeslot, under the laws and industry standards of the era, meant that they couldn't show much in the way of sex, violence, or even get into much in the way of touchy philosophical issues. It was designated "family viewing time", so it was all cute robot dogs and Cassie had to become a Medtech.
