IF BSG is successful & goes several seasons (5-7), it would be nice to see a spin-off series & even TV movies on Sci-Fi.
I know I'm jumping the gun here, but I believe that BSG will be the next successful sci-fi franchise following Star Trek & Stargate.
At least that's one of my New Year wishes!

It would be cool and I do think BSG will be successful, but where do you spin off too? The story is fairly compact, Cylons attack and those left alive are with the Galactica, I think you could do some stories of other ships or bands of humans alive and fighting the Cylons, but you run the risk of having it become like V the TV series or The Planet of the Apes TV series (which were both God awful). It just seems to me that without creating an entirely different adventure (like with SG-Atlantis) you will just be re-telling the same stories, and I would hate for it to be a planet of the week series.
As long as they take this series for at lest five seasons and end it in a way that resolves the story I will be happy, as for spin offs I am not sure there will be much more to tell.

Well mjm800, you could have other Battlestars that survived & you could tell their stories of survival. Or maybe the Galactica discovers Earth at the end of TNS & the next series tries to get that culture into a position to ward off the Cylons. Something like Galactica 1980, but not so juvenile! You could do a spin-off, but it could be a follow-up to TNS. Just my thoughts..... KR

I couldn't see another actor playing Garibaldi for the life of me.

I just not sure how interesting the Earth vs. the Cylons thing would be, unless they did it in a way where Earthlings are apprehensive to work with the Colonials. After all Earth did not create the Cylons and they are not our problem, but the Colonials would have to impress upon us that it is our problem now and they are coming regardless of who created them. Again, I am hoping that the current BSG resolves the issues because finding Earth should not be the end of the story, the end should be a complete elimination of the Cylon threat. Therefore, finding Earth should come after or shortly before that threat is eliminated.
As for another Battlestar surviving, I think you would just be re-telling BSG only it would not come in a different package and I do not think it would very interesting.
What I would like to see is a prequel movie of the first Cylon War, I want to know how and why the Cylons rebelled and what lead to them eventually accepting an armistice and leaving to establish a world of their own. A young Lt. Adama could be a feature among others.

This is exactly where I want them to go. The Colonials, of course, treat them as machines with no emotions or feelings, regulated to the most dangerous and menial labor the Twelve Colonies has to offer, and then everything changes. However, when given the opportunity to change the relationship the Colonials refused to accept that the Cylons are sentient, I think that they still do not accept this in the current BSG. Perhaps the story could be told from the Cylon point of view and we can learn the basis of Cylon monotheism, beliefs, and the Imperious Leader. I think that they had to have had one Cylon that incited the rest to rebel rather than a spontaneous moment of awakening for all Cylons. B5 had, “In the Beginning,” why not BSG.

B5 had, “In the Beginning,” why not BSG. And Star Trek has Enterprise. So why not "Battlestar Galactica: The Cylon Rebelion" (or maybe just "Battlestar Galactica: Rebelion") Followed by "Battlestar Galactica: The Cylon Wars" Each could be done on a three or four season curve, which would be (IMO) easier to write for than the TNS which as yet has no ending (that we know of).

In a BSG prequel, there would certainly be more surprises than the B5 one. And they could focus on the original-looking Cylons! My god, the prequel would be more like TOS with respect to the enemy & their ships (the bat-winged craft, the Basestars, even THE Imperious Leader)! Could they pull this off without more death threats & fanatics storming the doors of the Sci-Fi network??? KR

KR Well if they did it in two phases like I suggested you wouldn't see the original 'Chrome Toasters' until the second series. Mind you Sci-Fi had big enough *dangly bits* to commision a re-make (sorry, re-working).

I remember the poll at sci fi where Moore was going to retool the mini into a prequel to tos with a young Adama and Cain. Now that I would have enjoyed. The poll was pure B/S.

Too bad I would have enjoyed that as well. I still would like a preguel movie or at the very least a flashback episode of Adama in his younger days during the first Cylon War.
