I just saw the first half of the mini tonight on DVD! I was very impressed with it.
The scenes which were particularly effective included the venting of the fiery hangar bay by Chief Tyrol, the swearing in of Laura as the new President of the Colonies, the human lottery down on Caprica with Helo & Boomer, and the Cylon ships getting blown away by good old-fashioned Vipers. What scenes did you like?
I'll be seeing the second half tomorrow night and then make additional comments. KR

In the deleted scenes, there is one of the Galactica jettisoning its munitions and destroying them in space. That explains why they don't have any bullets.
But, it sure seems like a waste of money to me. When I was a gunner of a Bradley, I can tell you, we never got to blow our ammo up, or even fire any unused ammo down range. We always had to return it.
Well, except for the 7.62mm ammo I used to stuff in my bags and take home, LOL.

I have to check the deleted scenes on the other side of my disc. Are there other omitted sequences which are pretty good? Thanks Recon, KR

My favourite scenes are the ones interwoven while Galactica is manuevering as it approaches Ragnar. The music makes my hair stand up. Which reminds me Xenu, when you going to put up the artwork, new sound clips and replace the Ragnar Theme

i think the coolest scene is after the Cylons begin bombing, when Six and Baltar are in his house and he's crying about not wanting to die. A bomb goes off in the background and Six stops him in mid-sob, says, "Get down" and pushes him to the floor right before the windows are blown in.
i also think the way Adama and Tigh talk to each other is excellent!
ADAMA (Looking over at Billy and Dualla): "They better start having babies"
TIGH (After looking also): "Is that an order?"
;D

My favorite:
“As of this moment we are at war.”
The look on all of the faces in the CIC is utter shock and dismay, it was like when I was in the Marine Corps and they told us we had to go fight many people where just standing there like, “Hey, I didn’t sign up for this I just wanted the college money.” That scene in the CIC was very realistic and memorable.

I still like the scene where Adama beats the crap out of the Cylon agent at, ironically enough, Ragnar Anchorage (not this one, though!). ;D The force of his blows is so strong blood hits his face from the beaten body. WOW- not too many TV commanders have done this with such focus & malice for the enemy. EJO is GREAT and so believable at this moment! KR

My personal was when Boomer and Helo had just landed on Caprica and you could see all the mushroom clouds on the horizon. A very disturbing scene IMO.

As far as i can remember, it didn't blink once the whole time Adama was bashing Conoy's head in!! (Got to find out the name of that brand...)

Me my fav scene was Boomers Raptor crashing, on the deleted scenes. I thought that alot of the deleted scenes could have easliy been put into the mini.

Yeah- but think how much more expensive it would have been. And Sci-Fi is constantly assessing the cost to shows. If SkyOne did not chip in with some pretty significant bucks, we would not even see TNS. So it's pretty miraculous that we got the series, when you think about it. Its not just ratings that are factored into a decision to go to series; it's also the funding. But don't fret. Some of those deleted scenes will make it into the series. KR

I think this new BSG is about the best thing Sci Fi has ever done...their dune series was bad...the earthsea series was nearly unwatchable IMO, have any of their oriiginals made any kind of mark at all? THeir attempts to revive FIrst Wave, G vs E, failed...they at least picked up Andromeda, which I don't think is really that bad.

Why is it, that with all the technology that we have these days do the producers of DVD's not let us have the choice of "re-including" the deleted scenes back into the main film? Could it really be that difficult?

They did that for the first X-Men movie & Daredevil on DVD. It would announce on the screen when a deleted scene was being shown. It was pretty cool. And you had the option of viewing the theatrical version or the one with the deleted scenes like you would with an audio commentary (on/off). KR
