has anyone else felt, that gounding the best pilot on the show to be somewhat of a cliche?
I've seen a couple of shows like this,,, where the best pilot gets grounded by injury,,, just so they can build up the plot to his or her triumphant return to combat.
The example that comes to mind is Space: Above and Beyond. They two, grounded the best pilot on the show, only to have him return for the big fight.
This is one thing I wish they hadn't done with starbuck.

They havnt But they did... but I'm am quite happy that it only lasted an episode or two. I would have loved to see what she would have done against the Tillium factory. The thing that BSG holds is that they will deliver a great Starbuck battle at some point, and probably soon (relatively speaking as far as episode airing go). So I'm happy. It wasn't really a complaint, but rather a concern. I mentioned S:AAB, and what dissappointed me about that show was that very issue. Byfar the coolest character on the show was grounded the entire series, except for one episode (although, I guess it was worth it, b/c it was a great return) I just don't want to be teased... I want to be pleased

I find it hard to believe that even at 6 Gs the gas pedal on a viper weighs that much.

not the weight...the force required to push it.

I find it hard to believe that even at 6 Gs the gas pedal on a viper weighs that much. take the weight of your leg, add it to the force (or equivalent weight) needed to push the pedal... and take all that and multiply it by 6. That's A LOT of weight

Actually, I'm kinda hoping they have done something like that...simple because if they haven't, that means we'll never get to see Starbuck fly again...and I would be greatly miffed by that...

That's A LOT of weight Somebody should give a good slap to their engineers... they didn't give mechanical aids based on the current G-Force of the ship? sheesh... and further, if the G-force is that bad, perhaps they should have used an elecronic throttle instead. It's a bit cliche, but I though that the part in in the comand center was well played - the "always in control" pilot being forced to watch a strategy unfold from the sidelines. It's tough to go from player to coach.

The Viper Mk. VII's have fly-by-wire . . . and are therefore vulnerable to Cylons. =D

They were able to modify Apollo's Viper, did it keep the fly by wire? Or did they have to change that as well as all the other electronic stuff?

Somebody should give a good slap to their engineers... they didn't give mechanical aids based on the current G-Force of the ship? sheesh... and further, if the G-force is that bad, perhaps they should have used an elecronic throttle instead. pedals usually control the 'rudder' control on aircraft, so the throttle point is a little moot. Building a mechanical aid to make the pedal easier to push doesn't make a different. It's not the resistance of the pedal that makes things difficult. It's the weight on one's legx6 that makes leg strength so important when flying. It's your leg that gets heavy, not the pedal (essentially speaking of course. obviously the pedal gets heavier, but nowhere near as heavy as your leg gets). Stupid inertia, how much simpler would the world be without it

If you want an example of this try holding your feet off the floor of the car the entire time you are riding a roller coaster. You will find it very dificult to do when you are pulling heavy G's
