My BEST SCENES Review of Episode 1.09 is up at the GS Reviews Link.
Here's the start of it:
Well- after seeing ‘Six Degrees of Separation,’ I did not think RDM would insert another humorous episode in Season 1, but he did—to my delight! Following the events of ‘Flesh and Bone,’ Laura Roslin has her doubts about Commander Adama being human, so she wants him subjected to Dr. Baltar’s Cylon Detector immediately. There is only one catch: Adama brings aboard the Galactica Tigh’s wife, Ellen (played over-the-top by Kate Vernon) and he suspects her of being a Cylon. By the end of the teleplay, the test confirms that Ellen is indeed human and so Baltar can resume his original plan of examining Adama. But, as always, Moore keeps us guessing as Gaius relates to Six that he will never tell her what the actual reading was on Ellen Tigh!
While having a simple plot, Episode 1.09 does manage to maintain the major theme of the series: namely, who is Cylon and who is human? And it is that `sense of paranoia’ which keeps me compelled to watch Battlestar Galactica every week. Moore could have delivered a very serious story line, but he wanted to be more creative and have some fun. And I think new fans as well as some of TOS fans would be very pleased at what he actually has done here. Moreover, the growing threat of the Cylon menace is ever on the horizon as one of the damaged Raider ships cannot get back to its basestar. What transpires with the ship is a nice nod to the original series as it programs a suicide run and collides with the Galactica. Well, that scene was taken right out of ‘Fire in Space’ and a few other teleplays (that used the same stock footage). But, the damage is minimal, so thankfully we do not have to see a re-enactment of the entire ‘Fire in Space’ episode.
Some of the best scenes have to do with Roslin and Adama, and those involving Ellen Tigh. When Roslin suggests that Adama should be one of the first people tested with the Cylon Detector because if he’s a Cylon, she would like to know, Adama replies with a great line: “If I’m a Cylon, you’re really screwed!” In another encounter with Roslin, Adama loses his temper and says, “What do you think I am? A Cylon? Have you been spying on me? On my ship?” Roslin remains composed as Adama rants and raves. This scene reminded me of some Space: 1999 teleplays where Commander Koenig would become histrionic, and all Doctor Russell would do is look at him calmly with concern on her face. Priceless! Another high point is when Roslin, Adama, Lee and the Tighs are having dinner and the conversation rapidly turns to the Cylons looking human. All eyes turn to Ellen. She remains quiet and then yells out a loud BOO- startling everyone and breaking the serious moment.

Contrary to what some have been posting, I really liked this episode.
And Kate Vernon was a HOOT!
