Or even better still, ask the family for it for your birthday! My birthday is March 12 but I don't mind if one of my lovely sisters buys it for me - hey, I can wait two weeks for my present. I'm not proud! I can see one small problem with this - trying to explain to my family which version I want. This is very difficult, trust me I know from bitter experience about this! Unfortunately, neither Amazon or Play.com do 'wedding list' services, where you can put on what you want and the purchasers pick out what they want to buy you. Or if they do, it's not idiot proof for my family! Bless 'em, I love 'em to death but when it comes to this sort of thing...

scifipulse.net/battlestarnews/BGSRemake_DVDS1.htmlSource Sci Fi Pulse 7 February 2005 By Ian M. Cullen Earlier today I received a tip off via e-mail that the Ron Moore produced Battlestar Galactica re-imagining is due for a UK Release on DVD for the Region 2 area codes. Provided was the above cover illustration of the series, at this point very little is known as to what extras the box set will contain, having done a quick search at play.com for the new box set, it does not have any extras listed, and neither does the set contain a re – issue of the Mini series to bump the episodes numbers. So either it doesn't have any special features or they just haven't been announced as of yet, but I do know that fans of any TV show expect more bang for their buck than just the shows episodes. All that is known at present is that the set is due for release at the end of March and has a recommended retail price of £44.99. Look out for more news on this as and when it becomes available. If your a UK fan of the Galactica series and wish to order the 13 episodes which make up the shows first season, you can pre order at the following link from play.com. play.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R...81474&p=57&g=72Review "The Cylons were created by man. They rebelled. They evolved. They look and feel human. Some are programmed to think they are human. There are many copies. And they have a plan." Welcome to the radical re-imagining of 1970s sci-fi favourite 'Battlestar Galactica'! Episodes comprise: 1. 33 2. Water 3. Bastille Day 4. Act of Contrition 5. You Can't Go Home Again 6. Litmus 7. Six Degrees Of Separation 8. Flesh and Bone 9. Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down 10. The Hand Of God 11. Colonial Day 12. Kobol's Last Gleaming (Part 1) 13. Kobol's Last Gleaming (Part 2) Technical Details Actors Katee Sackhoff ; Jamie Bamber ; Jim Callis ; Edward James Olmos ; Mary McDonnell ; Aaron Douglas ; Tricia Helfer Certificate 12 years and over Year 2003 Languages English Duration 9 hours and 6 minutes (approx)

Curse the Movie Industry and their regions!!! The least they could do is make english speaking countries have the same region.

Is there a release date for the Region 1 Version? Would hate to think that the R1 version will be released with more extras than R2. I have known this to happen with other releases.

No date for the R1 as yet. We've discussed the R2 vs R1 thing further up, and yes, it is a bit annoying, especially as we know that the R1 version of the Mini has more extras than the UK release.
Still, there's a good few weeks before the R2 set is released, and it's not as though they're going to go out of print within a few days, so no need to rush into sticking your money down at Play or wherever.
At least we know that the UK release will at least have some extras on it, not least the deleted scenes, so the signs are positive.

I was wondering if Amazon.com will get it in region 1 for me ? because I can't wait to own it to tell you the truth . Eh? Are you talking about Amazon getting the Region 2 release for you? If Amazon can't do it, I'm sure you would be able to get the R2 box from another importer. However, you will need a multi-region capable DVD player to play it, something you should check out before breaking out your credit card.

I gleamed this from bbfc.co.uk www.bbfc.co.uk has rated the following BATTLESTAR GALACTICA - BONUS - DELETED SCENES Video Feature Classified 04 February, 2005 . Run Time 46m 53s Widescreen, DVD additional material, Advice for consumers No consumer advice is available for this work The main spoken language in this work is English. The BBFC has placed this work in the ADDITIONAL PRODUCTION MATERIAL genre(s). When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 46m 53s. This work was passed with no cuts made. At the time of classification Universal Pictures (UK) Ltd was the holder of the rights or the brand name for this work. Directed by Not known Producer(s) Not known The cast for this work includes: Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Katee Sackhoff. This work is made up of a number of separate components. Note that since February 2001 the BBFC has measured each component separately, but older works may not have the exact details, only a list of titles. Length 00:01:00:04 | INTERNATIONAL MAIN TITLE 00:05:16:01 | EPISODE 801 00:08:16:21 | WATER 00:02:46:18 | ACT OF CONTRITION 00:00:51:07 | YOU CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN 00:05:03:16 | LITMUS 00:01:08:14 | SIX DEGREES OF SEPERATION 00:01:07:02 | FLESH AND BONE 00:03:18:21 | TIGH ME UP TIGH ME DOWN 00:00:48:05 | HAND OF GOD 00:00:21:16 | COLONIAL DAY 00:12:30:17 | KOBOL'S LAST GLEAMING (PART 1) 00:04:23:04 | KOBOL'S LAST GLEAMING (PART 2) So, it looks like 2 things.... 1. These are deleted scenes (Duh! ) 2. We're getting the American intro (seeming as the INTERNATIONAL MAIN TITLE) is being listed as a deleted scene

Indeedy. That could work either way, couldn't it? It could just as easily mean that we're getting the same title sequence that Sky broadcast, with the "other" one in the deleted scenes section. Either way, there's still no mention of commentaries or documentary material at the BBFC, so still plenty of opportunity for the R1 version to be better, unfortunately. Curse the Movie Industry and their regions!!! The least they could do is make english speaking countries have the same region. Leaving aside all the marketing bull behind region coding, what you're asking for is not technically feasible. The USA uses a different TV system (NTSC) to most of the rest of the English speaking world (UK, Aus, NZ etc.), which use PAL. As such, splitting the US into its own region makes technical as well as marketing sense. Even then, it's hardly worth cursing anyone, as region coding is largely irrelevant. All you need is a multi-region player and you're sorted.

Looks like the deleted scenes are not all the deleted scenes.
Water was supposed to have over 20 min of cut footage.
