The miniseries and the new series have not yet aired in Australia, but oddly the region 4 DVD version of the miniseries has been available here for some time. The DVD is 3 hours long. Is this the same as the miniseries that aired in the U.S., or has it been edited down from a longer version?

Should be exactly the same as the unedited miniseries, unless you're looking at the original series DVD LOL!

Thanks for the info. The miniseries will be shown here later this month and I was almost hoping somebody would say that I would see additional scenes that are not on my DVD. Oh well.
Incidentally, unlike in the UK and America, the new BG series will be shown here on one of the 3 free-to-air commercial networks (Network Ten). So there is potential for a huge audience numering in the millions despite Australia's population of only 20 million. Pay TV is not very popular here, so most people have access to only 3 fully commercial television channels and 2 government-supported channels. Ratings will primarily depend on the time of day that it is shown. The new Star Trek series have been typically shown around midnight, so understandably do not get high ratings. Let's hope Network Ten don't make that mistake.
