I just wanted to give this guy the credit he deserves! I know that my Canadian neighbors to the north have enjoyed this man's talents for years, but what a treat for us all in the rest of the world! He & his character are quickly becoming my favorite part of BSG TNS. When I first saw the mini, I didn't give him much thought, but as time went on I watched the mini a few more times & realized that Mr. Hogan & his wonderful portrayal of this honorable yet flawed person is one of the brightest points in this phenomenal program. I'm still a huge Eddie Olmos & Mary McDonnel fan & love all the other actors, but this guy seems to get better at each turn! Take the scene from the mini in which he is reluctantly apologizing to Starbuck & watch the way his jaw twitches & his facial expressions speak volumes. It is probably hard to stand out so much when you're acting alongside the likes of EJO & MM & James Callis, but every time Hogan/Tigh enters the picture, I feel that he is quietly "stealing" the scene. Kudos & congrats to Michael Hogan, for he is truly a gem from the Great White North! Like the great sport of hockey, he represents the best of Canada!

I my opinion all actord portray strongly in this series. With James Callis and Tricia Helfer also giving strong parts. But I sure as hell like Micheal Hogans portrayal of Tigh!!

Hogan is fantastic. I love the way he and Olmos work together to make the relationship between Adama and Tigh so real. Hogan's delivery often elicits chuckles...in a good way.
This is simply a phenomenal cast. I use the term "deep bench" when describing it.

I agree. There can be only one XO and that's Michael Hogan.

totally agree, Micheal Hogan (along with the rest of the crew) I think have been playing their parts excellent. He does a great job playing an good man with the one major flaw of being in love with the wrong woman. in the scene from the mini when Adama was contemplating Roslin's advice and commented that they should be making babies, Tie asked "is that an order..." he instantly became one of my favourite characters

"Is that an order?" - classic! He delivers his lines with a gritty grace that only natural actors can. He is the perfect 2nd in command, the gruff & gritty side that Adama doesn't have to show. Adama gives orders in a normal tone of voice & when people don't seem to be moving fast enough, Tigh is there to bark out those orders in a tone that gets the crew moving! Hogan should get an Emmy for sure, do they give those out for supporting roles, like the Oscars? Anyway, this guy is every bit as good as it can get! I even liked the scene in BD, when Kara Thrace comes to kind of smooth things over with him, & he makes the crack that his shortcomings are of a personal, not professional nature! This dude doesn't take crap from anyone! ;D

The last role I saw Mr. Hogan in was Tony Legozzo on 'Cold Squad', a Vancouver based show where he played an alcoholic detective with a rocky relationship with his estranged wife....Hmmmm... I like his Tigh character and I don't think if the 'Is that an order' line had been delivered by another character it would have been anywhere near as effective or memorable.

I would love to see that show! Too bad we Americans in the south don't ever to get to see any Canadian TV! If you could kindly suggest a feature film that he stars in I would go out & rent or buy it! caseOrange & I are good friends & we both dig Hogan's performance & neither of us has ever really seen him in anything before. BTW, Harvester, killer signature! RUSH is one of the best bands ever!

Actually on second thought, you do have a point 13th Cylon. I just realized that Hogan must be a good actor cause everytime I see him, he makes me dislike Tigh. So for playing a character I love to hate, he is a cool actor.

Yep definitely one of my favourite characters, he is what makes EJO's character work so well - giving due credit to EJO - these two seem to have a natural chemistry. I hope to hear how these characters became such good friends in a future series. That is if Scifi have the good sense to recognise the level of success this series could have and don't screw it up.

I remember him from a guest role he did on an episode of "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda", another show filmed in Vancouver, available here in the States in syndication and on the Sci-Fi Channel. The episode in question is called "The Leper's Kiss", but doesn't seem to be airing on the sci-fi channel anytime soon. www.scifi.com/andromeda/episodes/season3/307.htmlAnd while I quite like his character, I find Michael Hogan's voice to be a tad grating and annoying, and this makes it difficult for me to fully get behind him as an actor...

Love Col Tigh - flaws and all. Given the series ending i can't wait to see how he copes with the pressure.
