When I was reading Nothing but the Rain Col. Tigh's first name was Saul not Paul so I was thinking was this an error on the writters part that his real name is Saul and not Paul ? what do you think .

i've thought i heard both.
i'd hate for them to do the biblical parralel. saul goes over to the cylons and starts going by paul.

i'd hate for them to do the biblical parralel But there are religious parallels, whether you're a pantheist, jew, christian or muslim, you can't help but notice them. Anyone else see Roslin as a Moses? The whole premise is based on the cyclical time thing, so it's all possible and probable. I thought Tigh's name was Saul anyway...

If his first name is indeed Saul, then I get the sinking feeling that his callsign was "Salty" (Saul T., get it?).
But I could have sworn his name was Paul all along.

According to SciFi.com his full name is Saul Tigh. They gave him a first name in the characters section of the Battlestar Galactica site. www.scifi.com/battlestar/characters/They also gave Tyrol his first name, Galen, and added Tom Zarek, who looks too spiffy to be a "terrorist" in that photo, and Gaeta. The fact that Boomer is a Cylon is also included in the update.

My VHS copies of the miniseries (two different airings on the Sci-Fi channel, plus another copy of the NBC airing...geez I'm a fanboy...) has the end credits squashed to illegibility due to commercials airing over the end credits. Anyone with the DVD of the miniseries (I'm a fanboy, but a penniless one) willing to check the end credits on that to see if they give him a full name there? The IMDB is calling him Saul, but I could have sworn it originally listed him as Paul...

This is odd, I just went to IMDB to check it again & he is listed as Saul now, but I could swear that recently it said Paul. I used to go to that page to read about the various cast members. It definitely said Paul at one time, because I remember discussing it with caseOrange & I was looking at IMDB & had the mini on at the same time (OMG, I'm also a frakin' fanboy!) & I was telling him about the discrepancy with Tigh's first name(s). Anyway, Big Brother, I just checked the end credits for the mini & it says Col. Tigh - Michael Hogan. No first name given. But I also checked a scene when Adama & Tigh were in the C.I.C. & Adama calls him Saul, I had the closed captioning on.

Howdy folks,
Never posted here before, but wanted to throw my two cents in this topic. Back when the mini was announced, Tigh's first name was listed as "Paul", but no on called him by his first name until the series, when it was changed to Saul. Then, when Richard Hatch was announced as a guest on the series, his character's first name was Peter. But when the episode his the air, his name was changed to Tom. Peter and Paul are both Christian names in the Bible, and since the Colonials worship the Greek Gods, it stands to reason they would not have "Christian" names. Ron Moore and Co. have infused the new series with religious overtones, so maybe they "have a plan" that required them to re-think naming their characters.
Just a thought...

Then changing Zarek's first name from Peter to Tom was no improvement, since Peter and Thomas are both names of Apostles. Saul is a Hellenized-Jew name -- Saul of Tarsus became Paul after his conversion to Christianity.
Speaking of Tom Zarek's name changes, I was reading a Richard Hatch interview or open-letter-to-fans or somesuch article recently, and he said his upcoming character was named "Tom Zarich". Was that also changed? Or was it Zarich all along (can someone check the captioning, my old TV -- one I found dumped in my front yard a couple years back, but hey, a 19" color TV is a lot more fun to pick up than a used diaper -- doesn't have captioning support) and the whole darn fan community is hearing it wrong? Or did whomever transcribed the article just not ask Hatch how to spell it and write it down wrong?

I'm currently reading Exodus. It's not Rosalyn. It's Gaius.
(Forgive me for paraphrasing the quotes, my Amplified Old Testament is upstairs right now. but my memory is pretty accurate.)
Moses has these secret visions while the fate of his followers hangs on whether they're accurate or not. God reveals dangers, locations and cryptic prophecies of the future to Moses. This is similar to Number 6's interaction with Baltar. While Mary may have visions, they do not come from the voice of an omnipresent being. Baltar's visions more accurately reflect Moses' interaction with god.
Moses isn't at all prepared to assume leadership. There's this one part where he clearly points out his unpreparedness by telling god something to the effect of: "I can't speak properly, I stutter. Tell someone else to lead." Then, god says "no!" "You are my choice" This is similar to Gaius's continuing hesitation. Remember that Rosalyn accepted the job willingly. In fact, when an oppurtunity came to abandon the leadership to Adama, she wanted to hold on to it. Whereas Moses suggested his brother Aaron be given the job.
And, Moses clearly questions god when he fears Pharoh's retribution. God tells him to have faith. Much like Gaius who although accepting of his lot, questions Number6's accuacy regularly.
