I was reading a number of BSG articles in the February 2005 Sci-Fi magazine. One is entitled, "Battle Stars," and one paragraph is of interest: "As of press time, the series had wrapped production on the series' first 13 episodes, and Eick and Moore were putting the final touches on the segments, which begin airing in early 2005. But the work is soon to start up again. Eick confirms that SCI FI ordered an additional six scripts for a second season even before the first season hits the airwaves. 'Just after I finished exhaling, it'll be time to jump back into it,' he says." (p. 46, Sci Fi Magazine). As Sci Fi Magazine is the official publication of the Sci Fi Channel, the source (Patrick Lee) would appear to be a reliable one. KR

It's certainly good news, but SFC is still hedging their bets. They ordered only six scripts (rather than a half season or a full season) and of course, scripts are much cheaper than actual episodes.
January's numbers will still be critical, but this is good info in any case. Thanks KR!

KR I wonder when "press time" was and whether editing is being done for the American broadcast. Finishing touches on Season 1 would have been done ages ago, nu? Or are these comments just supposed to make it sound like the series has that new car smell? If this was part of the news back when actual postproduction was being done, it's interesting that nobody mentioned it til now. S.

This series is amazing and I have every confidence it will be pushed beyond the 6 extra scripts. Although...wait a minute, the sci-fi channel DID blow the show when they foolishly ended Farscape in season 4. (my continued thanks to all who made them see the error in their ways).

Scifi channel order was designed so that if the series is renewed that shooting could begin as soon as possiable. If they wait until the channel the channel renews it. the shooting would have to be delayed funtil March because they no scripts to shot from.

I guess "Battlestars" means that the Pegasus does show up after all. Cool.

No, Battle Stars was in reference to the actors who star in BSG. KR

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! ;D ;D ;D ;D Yeah, I know, it's only six scripts. But six script orders is much better than the big goose egg we've had up until now. Fingers double-crossed, everybody!

While its no green light for a new season, it is great news. I still have no doubt that Scifi with SKY one will give the go ahead for a second, third, and probably even a fourth season. Oh yeah, one step at a time....

My source told me they knew about the 6 script order several months back. So this means, at the very least, that Sci Fi is commited to the show. Of course, the ratings on the first few episodes here in the States will be examined thoroughly. But I see no reason why it's going to tank. My guess is we will know something about Season 2 in January. In the meantime, some of the second tier actors may not be coming back. More on this to come in the weeks ahead, KR

I guess that we in the British Isles (who have SKY One) are luckier than we realise.
They've had a very grown up view towards Sci-Fi in general. We're lucky enough to have this channel which shows the best of the Sci-Fi series produced on the North American continent.
With any luck, if the reviews are good enough over hear, and so far they have, I hoping that SKY will plow alot more money into the 2nd season.

Well our Sci-Fi channel over here sucks major ass with only the occasional SeaQuest and FarScape repeats worth watching.
I agree with rollinb i think battlestars may very well be The Living Legend just hope Sheba is still a lass aswell as BoJay

I read the article, "If you can't beat em, join em," was a familiar quote by Richard Hatch. It went on to state how some fans sided with Hatch for his version. I wonder just how many, 100 maybe 200.
