I have included a few paragraphs of my review to entice you further:
The Best Scenes Episode Review of 1.02 'Water' by Koenigrules
By the ending of ’33,’ one certainly gets the impression that the Galactica’s problems are far from over. In this second episode, the crew loses most of their water supply and have to replenish it before the people engage in mass riots .
What makes this second entry memorable are the facial expressions of the characters. When Sharon (aka Boomer) ‘wakes’ up from her apparent slumber, we see her face going through all the emotions she is experiencing: first bewilderment and uncertainty to find herself soaking wet, then shock when she discovers a detonator in her bag, and finally fear that she might be responsible for taking a number of explosives with her to sabotage the Galactica’s water supply. Boomer did not need to talk at all during these minutes. She was able to communicate everything clearly through her face. This was a tour de force performance by Grace Park. She also shined at the end of this episode (to be commented on later).
Then we have Captain Adama (aka Apollo) who opens up his locker- only to be startled by his own face looking back at him from the mirror. At that moment, he recalls all the events leading up to his decision to destroy the Olympic Carrier. Bamber plays this scene very convincingly; one can see how the man is haunted just by reading his face. I thought this scene, plus the one where Apollo opens up to Laura Roslin about his troubles, were very effective ones. Ron Moore’s characters do not bury their problems after the ending of one episode, but continue to reflect on them across several episodes (something Star Trek just never managed to do well in all its incarnations).
