Slashdot thread says the colossal Galactica v. Enterprise battle lasted a whole week... and down goes Enterprise, down goes Enterprise... 'Star Trek: Enterprise' Cancelled? Posted by CmdrTaco on Tuesday January 18, @02:10PM from the well-that-was-inevitable dept. Tycoon Guy writes "There seems to be no avoiding it this season: TrekToday is reporting that the Enterprise production crew has been told they will all be fired in March, after completing filming on another four episodes. If true, that leaves only very little time to participate in the Save Enterprise campaign. But even if Enterprise is cancelled, all may not be lost: Rick Berman said today he's working on a new Trek feature film that will have "a larger scope and budget" than ever." slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/01/18/1827240&tid=214&tid=129

There's an article at TrekBBS where Manny Cota openly says the cancellation rumor is incorrect and that they are currently building sets for eps 20-21 and Berman is writing 22 leaving in doubt the original cancellation report.

They won't cancel Enterprise just yet. The powers that be over at Paramount realize by now that any Trek series is going to live forever in reruns, DVD sales, and so forth. Even if it loses money in its first run, they'll eventually make it back plus a handsome profit. So, while it may get its budget cut yet again, they won't cancel it just because BSG is winning Friday Nights. Move it to another night, change its timeslot, sure, but not cancel.
Of course, that's unlikely to win me back as a viewer. I gave it a season and a half, and it just got more and more relentlessly mediocre, so I gave up on it. What a shame to see such talented SFX guys and set designers, even such good actors, reduced to working for people who can't write worth crap.

They could always sell it to Sci-fi. While they couldn't afford anywhere NEAR the current $5 million per episode budget (I think I heard TNS's was $300,000, but I could be wrong), if they put in it a line-up with both Stargates, and TNS, they could use it to boost their ratings, rather than causing it to plummet.

BSG is more like 1.4 million per ep and Enterprise is nowhere even remotely close to 5mil per..that amount of cash would be outrageous...it's more like 1.5 itself.

One can hope. Didn't you hear that BSG finds Earth in season 2, and fans get to see Galactica's primary offensive guns (siege cannons) open fire on Enterprise, saving Earth from a socialist federation ?

You'll be wanting to keep your right wing comments to yourself here. If you start the political sniping, I'll finish it. I promise you that.

And don't think we're going to turn this thread into a political discussion...so let's not. We all know how constructive those can be, anyway...

And don't think we're going to turn this thread into a political discussion...so let's not. We all know how constructive those can be, anyway... Not trying to start one. Trying to stop one. Some right-wingers on the net seem to think they have the right to drop their campaign rhetoric into every conversation they have on the net, no matter where it is on the net. These same right-wingers also pretend right wing one liners aren't supposed to count. Well, it's not okay. People who drop campaign rhetoric into conversations will find themselves getting their rhetoric corrected.

You guys are gonna make this right-winger lock this thread, ain'tcha? We have an off-topic forum where you guys can play Turd Sandwich & Giant Douche all day All anyone did was make a joke about Star Trek being socialist, which was funny, IMHO, as Roddenberry's utopia could use a nice swift boot to the ass of reality once in a while, much as I love the old show. Nobody insulted anyones values, unless they are a conservative Trek writer or a lousy Commie
