Ordering scripts means nada. There were many unfilmed scripts for os BG such as Two For Twilly, I have Seen Earth, ect. The only chance Nu Galactica has is if NBC places the series in it's lineup.

Well, there's basically no chance of that hapening, so if that's the case, then we're all screwed. Fortunately, I don't believe that to be the case, but I suppose we'll see soon.

Kingfish, why so negative ALL the time about TNS? I know you love TOS, but let's move past denial at least. Seriously. Turn that frown upside down!

I'll be the first to admit that tos had problems. After War of the Gods the show was headed for the cliff. The Terra Trilogy stunk and the best part of the show, the Cylons were wittled down to non appearances except for the finale. Hand of God was the best episode because the effects team went overboard.

Hand of God was the best episode because the effects team went overboard. And that was well over TWENTY_FIVE years ago. I really can understand peoples disapointment after 9/11, but really, Larson held onto his interlectual rights through the court case, what the hell do you expect through a re-imagining, where the writers hands are in cuffs. It's all just bollocks really. What's not, is a fine piece of work, which should be merrited for it's qualities. Besides, if all the actors in the original had come to play in the 'Continuation' surely, a new audience, would have to deal with any new direction the show would have to take, through the introduction of new blood. Which in my mind, is the same as complaining about any of the characters in TNS. You all say, you'd stick to the same family ethos, yet make the show more appealling to a modern audience...BUT...HOW? No-one, has given any clear direction on that, just say so 'that they would', which comes down to trust, and talk of walking vipers. Sorry, BSG is now TNS, like it or complain. There's no-way a viewing public will accept two different timelines. One's in production, of which you can advice criticism, the other is a possible cartoon. It's that stark now....

Very funny that Tom DeSanto managed to update the story for both age groups. He also managed to keep the characters intact. The only thing that went wrong was they pulled the production away from him.

The only thing that went wrong was they pulled the production away from him. I love to strongly debate, probably to the extent of flaming, but I really do not wish to here. It's a sensitive subject to a lot of people. You talk of DeSanto doing the deed in terms of script, but I've seen nothing of it. If it does exist, could you URL point it to me. I've only heard of scratch synopsis. It's one thing to talk of reality, it's another to talk of possability. Why are you so sure DeSanto would have created more of an original continuation? I want to reiterate, I don't want to start a flame war here. I just want to understand, why you are so sure you would have got what you wanted through DeSanto??

It's easy to debate what could have been, than to defend what you've got. The swing could have swung the other way here. What you can not deny, is the amount of people who actualy like what they are getting!!!

Very funny that Tom DeSanto managed to update the story for both age groups. He also managed to keep the characters intact. How exactly did DeSanto "keep the characters intact"? The DeSanto version made Apollo into a Cylon! Richard Hatch would have appeared for only a few seconds at the end of the pilot episode, with a Cylon red-eye effect. This is one of the reasons that Richard Hatch didn't like the DeSanto script, and it graphically demonstrates the other poster's point that it's difficult to please everybody regardless how carefully you recreate a show like BSG. If you think people were upset about a female Starbuck, just imagine what the fandom would have done with a Cylon Apollo who barely even appeared in the show! From an interview with Richard Hatch:Q: "The DeSanto/Singer version of Battlestar Galactica planned for you to return as a captive servant of the Cylons. How did you feel about this drastic change for the Apollo character?" Richard Hatch: "When I learned about this, my first reaction was that I didn't really see a continuing role in this production for me. This was very different than I had thought Apollo would come back. I thought, "Me, a Cylon". Then I thought that, as an actor, it could be a really interesting and challenging role, but where would it go from there; where would this character go after this pilot? At most, I saw that I'd be playing an extended guest star role, at least at first. After being a key actor in the original series, this didn't make me feel very wanted. I know that they had some plans for the character to progress and have an increasing impact on the series, but what if the series didn't get sold. I wouldn't even be in the pilot except for a "Red Eye" cameo. It just seemed pretty unfair and left me feeling that they just wanted to use me in some dramatic way that served only a temporary use, but they didn't really want me included in the series as a continuing regular."

If you think people were upset about a female Starbuck, just imagine what the fandom would have done with a Cylon Apollo who barely even appeared in the show! They would have Eddie Seideled en masse, most likely. No sense of perspective. Strong streak of the ol' obsessive compulsive running through that demographic. More than slightly spooky to see how evangelistic and overwrought it gets. Eddie Seidel, in cautionary memoriam: www.kobol.com/archives/suicide.html

But you know he survived, he was later found up-river, adopted and taken into care. He became a quiet young man, studious and attentive in class, finding his aptitude in computer science. Beware, you won't like him when he's angry. Even the government has yielded to his potential destruction, they even gave him his own padded cell, to contain his anger. Plus his own unique URL name, 'The Langutron'

I know just enough about Languatron to find it kind of the perfect moment of camp. If that guy doesn't watch out he's going to become like an online version of a John Waters character. xo S.
