The composer mentioned in an interview that the producers have a serious case of "temp love" when it comes to the scoring . . . I wonder, did they use Braveheart music as a temp score for that episode? =D
The music rocked, anyway.

This episode was really perfect. I think the "Apollo-Cylon-Base-Tunnel-Raid" was a little hommage to "Star Wars". I think the writers of die script of the episode remmbered that George Lucas wasn't very amused about BSG TOS back in 1978 and they put a little hommage into the episode. ;D

Hand of God was an amazing episode.
I'm looking forward to the day that the Galactica gets to take on a Basestar one on one and blow it out of space!!!
Maybe we will see that when they reach Kobal?

If you have the DVD, go to the deleted scene with the unfinished F/X of Lee's Viper entering the atmosphere of the Trevor moon as a missile is chasing after him. There's a very good description of this scene in the first draft of the RDM script. The script describes Lee's Viper entering a tunnel, which was originally part of a Colonial Viper training facility. While in the tunnel, he then reverses the Viper and flies backwards, shoots down a Cylon missile, and then finally exits himself out the other end. In this unfinished scene, the sequence leaves Lee's Viper out of fuel.
According to the producers in the DVD commentary, they had planned to use this sequence in another episode.
Guess what. They finally did.
Lee does virtually the same thing thing in "The Hand of God" - that is - flying through a tunnel shaft. It's one of the most exciting sequences in "The Hand of God" and a highlight of the episode.

Ok... im not here to piss anyone off, it was a great episode, i enjoyed it and all.
But the special effects... flame me if you must, but the special effects just plain sucked imo.
Up until this episode its been great, with the space fights and when Starbuck crashed, it all looked super.
The asteroid shots in this episode however... to say that they where bad would be an understatement.
Sorry but thats my opinion.

It easy to animate against a black baground and I only noticed it while they was on the surface. Appolo's flight up the tunnel appearing outside jumping that peice of whatever is was to start is bombing run was an amaizing bit of animation

It could be said, I guess, that the asteroid surface looked unreal, although you must also note that the lack of atmosphere creates some of that "unrealness". When there is no air, there is no distance haze and everything seems "too sharp". Light does not scatter from airborne particles, etc. Still, I do agree that there was something slightly off, especially in the shot where we see the Viper squadron (the serpents numbering two and ten?) from the side. The shot was most likely a composite, with the background rendered separately and added almost as if using a bluescreen . . . maybe there was something a little bit amiss with syncing the motions. Then again, this episode must have filled the plates of the guys at Zoic for quite a while . . . there were, fortunately, a number of more character-centric episodes in between

Perhaps the Adamas have a family history that is culturally what we'd call Scottish...although the old man in a kilt isn't an image I really needed...

For what it's worth, I thought the music fitted very well; that music brings to mind ancient military traditions and heroic battles.
At least to me.

Awesome, finally we're getting somewhere.
Some problems though, how on earth do the 3 noob pilots survive against overwhelming cylon force? They should have been wiped out in seconds.. and why didn't the cylon raiders take out BSG while they were at it? There was like 90 raiders vs. BSG and 3? vipers.
