Although I'm in the U.S. and don't get to watch this series on t.v. until January, I've read reviews of every episode and know the story. Here's some random musings I have...
1) I think season one will end with the Galactica finding Kobol. However, I think the Cylons will show up and nuke the planet shortly after that. I do believe we will meet one of the leaders of the Cylons, perhaps even the Imperious Leader. (But I'm thinking someone like Lucifer). I think somebody will either get implicated as a new agent or perhaps get captured by the Cylons. (Maybe Starbuck???)...hence a bit of a cliffhanger like Ron Moore said there will be). I wouldn't be surprised if Chief Tyrol is the first person to figure out that Boomer is a Cylon, although both he and Helo are kinda dumb. (Good characters, but not the most intelligent guys). I think Patricia Helfer said that by the end of the season finale we will have an idea about what the Cylons master plan is. That speaks volumes right there. We're going to meet someone really important. So far Number 6 seems to be the most powerful Cylon character-wise, but maybe we'll meet one of her masters. 2) I think the "old school" raiders with the three pilots could show up next season as we start to meet new Cylon models. Those models (centurion) still exist and have their uses as Number 6 said. I think their purpose is to be cannon fodder. 3) The Battlestar Galactica is not the last Battlestar. Battlestar Pegasus is around somewhere, and will show up in season 2. The Pegasus might get destroyed, however. 4) I think the Galactica will take on a base star at some point in the series and win. Although they would be outgunned, maybe they'll find a weakness in the Cylon network whether it be through the captured raider or perhaps when they interrogate a weaker Cylon agent. (I'm thinking Boomer). 5) When they find Kobol, they will find proof of Earth existing. The bad thing is that the Cylons will find out too, and the hunt will begin. 6) We will meet at least one alien race. They probably won't be friendly. 7) Some more characters from the old series will show up. Boxey will get a larger role in the second season. 8) Richard Hatch will play what's his face again, and will become a strong morale Christ-like character after President Roslin dies from character. Hatch will be the next president.
Okay that's plenty for now. Thoughts?

Heheh. Typo, or deliberate pun? Is it possible for someone to die of good characterisation? Hmm, if it is then the whole ensemble cast could be in danger...
A firefight with a Basestar is SURELY on the cards, especially after Tigh's comment in the miniseries 'We can't stand toe-to-toe with those base ships.' Obviously he needs to be proved wrong. Plus that'll mean some kick*ss firefighting. ;D

I really hope this series does well ratings wise in the US, then a huge wad of the series budget could be spent on a CGI heavy combat episode. Something along the lines, the fleet needs a moral boosting victory over the cylons, in the realms of the Battle of Endor (not the furry teddy or wrinkled prune bits), coinciding with the arrival of the Pegasus.

I'm not that witty. I there's supposed to be a major battle in episode 10, I read that at that gateway website.

I do believe we will meet one of the leaders of the Cylons, perhaps even the Imperious Leader. Excellent post, Roblinb. You've got some interesting ideas! However I don't think we're going to see an Imperious Leader in this version. For one thing, it would answer too many questions about the nature of the Cylon leadership. Right now there is a lively debate within the fandom about whether the Cylon "God" is some kind of super-Cylon or maybe a group-mind or an alien of some kind (Iblis?) or just a religion or perhaps the real, actual GOD. Lots of interesting questions! I don't think they will want to resolve them so soon. I think Tyrol and Boomer both already know, but they just can't admit the truth to themselves. As for Helo, why do you think that he's dumb? The Chief has tons of information pointing to Boomer's Cylon nature, but Helo has almost none. I don't think he's been given enough information to realize yet that Boomer is a Cylon. No way! I'll bet you a dollar we NEVER see a three-seat Cylon Raider. ;D I agree with your points 4, 5, and 6. Also agreed that Boxey will get a larger role in the second season, although personally I regret that. I don't think they're going to kill Roslin anytime soon. Although she does have terminal cancer, consider that they've broadcast thirteen hours so far and covered LESS THAN A MONTH of time. At that rate, she could last for quite a while! Over on The West Wing President Bartlett has been suffering from multiple sclerosis for six full seasons now.

Wow I'm not used to posting something on an Internet board and not having someone tell me that my ideas are stupid I checked out that gateway website, Alan, and there's a picture of Boomer pointing a gun at Boxey in either Episode 12 or 13. Maybe Tyrol won't be the first one to find her out, or at least confront her about it Hey I liked Boxey. I can't remember the exact episode but I thought it was funny how he was a little smart alec to Colonel Tigh when Starbuck was talking to the newly recruited civilian pilots. Speaking of which... are we going to see more of Hot Dog in action? I liked that guy. He was cocky but seemed to have a lot of potential as a fighter pilot. I would like to see the Imperious leader. Definitely Lucifer, because he has the potential to be an outstanding character. (He was goofy in the OS, but then again Baltar was pretty one-dimensional as well and you can't say that about him now). I meant that Helo and Tyrol were "dumb" (not stupid) for not pressing Sharon for more answers despite her apparent issues. They are blue-collar guys who obviously take a woman's word pretty much on the surface. And some of us know that woman can be a little deceptive from time to time

While I accept that the old-school Cylons exist within TNS, I do not accept old-school raiders. The idea that after creating Cylons the colonies were incapable of creating a direct auto-pilot system that would be superior to a pilot, even a mechanical pilot, in any way is too ludicrous to even consider for TNS. I hope to meet the Pegasus too. Although it might be better if they said "Let's split the fleet, each half having a Battlestar protecting it. We go our seperate ways, and hopefully at least one of us will make it." Good enough. Although maybe it should be a damaged Basestar, and they find out about the damage, and hence where to aim. *sighs* Look, we-are-not-going-to-find-Earth-and-if-we-do-I-will-beat-the-crap-out-of-Moore. Better yet, we meet an alien race with a great deal of diversity, including groups that are both hostile, and friendly. And they better not be humanoid. And they should leave it at one, two tops. We have to deal with Fermi's Paradox. Sounds good. HERE! HERE! HATCH 2008!...oh, you meant on the show.

I would definately like to see the pegagus show up ;D but not just for a few episodes as it would give more scope for some big space battles. I dont think BSG is up to taking on a basestar on its own

Hatch as president...EXCELLENT!
Here is something I was wondering, and it may be something I got from watching the old series while a kid:
What if they find Earth, and it is in our past (we are no help against the cylons)? Or destroyed?

No way! I'll bet you a dollar we NEVER see a three-seat Cylon Raider. ;D I agree the chances are slim to none; however, they could show them if they did a flash-back episode featuring a young Lt. Adama during the first Cylon War then we could see them, but I doubt they will do that, unless they run out of ideas.

If they do I will hunt Moore down. If they show TOS Raiders or if the run out of ideas? Honestly, I think they could do an interesting story that advances the plot by telling a story of the First Cylon War. Perhaps, Adama will begin to see himself in Lee and nostalgically recount his time as a combat pilot fighting the Cylons. I am not saying it is going to happen and I am not saying that it should happen, but I am saying that if it did happen I think if done correctly it could be interesting.

If they show TOS Raiders or if the run out of ideas? If they show TOS Raiders. Any show on which the ships require manuevering rockets, should take urgonomics into account for designing things.
