Okay, I feel like a moron for asking this, as I'm sure it probably should be obvious, but what actually is the picture in the ready room that all the pilots touch their fingers to as they go out?

I think it might be a reminder of what they're fighting for, an Icon representing freedom or something

*Nod* So while the actual content of the picture may not be explicit, the meaning for those involved, which I kinda had a handle on anyway, is the more important thing.
Cheers

Cheers I think it has some kind of RL analogue relating to New York and 9/11, but I can't remember exactly. I suspect this has come up on one of the high traffic boards, you might msg ernestborg9 or Alan to see if they know, I think both of them are involved on other boards as well as this one. S.

Nobody knows exactly what the picture is, it doesn't seem to be anything recognizable. A poster on the scifi board said that some military briefing rooms had posted "never again" photos of the fallen twin towers which the pilots touched on their way to fly missions. It could be a photo of some famous Colonial site in flames, or some such...

ROTFLMAO!!
Although has anyone else noticed that Rosalin has the same picture on the Colonial One? It's somewhere behind her desk on the wall...ummm...can't remember which ep I saw it in. So maybe it's a relic from the old Cylon war instead, like a painting made by some kind of war artist that's become a cultural symbol, sort of like the red poppy is to us on good ol' Terra.

It could be a photo of some famous Colonial site in flames, or some such... If that's true, then i think that explains it. It doesn't look like a photograph--it's more like a sketch drawing. Something someone probably drew in remembrance of the Cylon attack. ...rolling...on...the...floor...laughing...my... Oh! Whew, that one threw me for a loop! i'm still a newbie to boards in general. i need a dictionary of these abbreviations!

It could be a photo of some famous Colonial site in flames, or some such... It's a pretty common cultural phenomenon. There was a rallying cry to "Remember the Maine" in the Spanish-American war. The British and French had similar ones related to huge troop losses in battles in WW1. Of course, there were and are many Pearl Harbor references in WW2.

From the DVD commentary; it is a soldier from the first Cylon War.

Maybe we should compile one in a thread somewhere, unless there's already a dictionary somewhere...bet there is. I shall research the problem And well spotted/listened, Conundrum. That seems to solve the mystery somewhat.
