...Felgercarb? In the new series, I hear "Frak Frak Frak," but some of the other staples seem to be MIA still. Suppose we will get a "Felgercarb," or hear much else that has been co-opted from the old series? I mean, the "By Your Command" in the miniseries was cool, but I would still like to see some more of this type of stuff. Not begging for Tylium or Laser Blasters that double as communication devices or anything (Definitely NO DR. Z or flying motorcycles!, ) but you know, the subtle stuff.
What other "old school" stuff would you like to see implanted? Maybe the old uniform patch, somewhere?

Other than "Frak", the old basestar models and centurion models on the galactica there wasnt much homage in the mini. There have been a few little things in the series so far like 'Tylium' and Starbuck also mentioned 'Ambrosia' in Ep 5. I personally, would love to see more little nuances and nods to the old series. It is good to see they have not forgotten what it is that started it all and gave them the chance to 're-imagine' the show.

And don't forget "cubits" and their card game with funny-shaped cards...

and the original theme during the flyby in the mini

Good points, all. I missed the Tylium thing, but saw the Cubits right away. that tickled me to death. Couldnt remember if the Pyramid cards were the same or not, though.

An old school shuttle was at the Armasist(sp) Station, and they played pyramid. But I pray they leave triad out of it.

Look carefully at the fleet, there are many identical ships from the original series.

You can actually buy Pyramid decks on Ebay, along with all the other crazy stuff. My uncle bought a Mig fighter plane on ebay last year. Isn't that nuts? I think it takes more moxie to smoke a cigar, even a little one, than most chicas have. And there should definitely be a tank top involved. Those chichi cigar bars in the 90s were absurd, yuppies all dressed up and going cross-eyed chuffing away at giant coronas. Those stogies that Starbuck was smoking look like small panatelas or cigarillos. I think that Baltar even referred to them as fumarellas or fumarillos or something like that. S.

What happens when she runs out? Are we going to get an even more cranky Kara going cold turkey? That's gotta be some laughs.
And at the risk of being shot down in flames (as a newbie fan with little to no knowledge of TOS): what is this triad of which you speak?

And at the risk of being shot down in flames (as a newbie fan with little to no knowledge of TOS): what is this triad of which you speak? Triad is a team sport they play in TOS. It's similar to full-contact 2-on-2 basketball, but with enough visual differences to make it look space-age. It's a source of humor mostly because of the silly-looking uniforms, which are brightly colored and show tons of skin. The TOS episode "Murder on the Rising Star" has a lengthy Triad scene near the start, with Starbuck and Apollo playing against another team.

Well that sounds like fun. And does explain sheriff288's sudden and violent change of position... ;D Ta Alan!

Yeah, yeah, I remember it now. It was exactly like basketball, except there were 2 man teams and you scored by putting the ball in a hole in the wall instead of a hoop.
