Hi im new here..... So i dont know if ive comited a crime exactly...... but seeming that the UK has their own threads as well as the US (and by defalt canada) have their ep threads i think this is fair for us in the antipodes to have ours (assuming there are any australians on these boards at all) So yeah Episode 0x01 "Battlestar Galactica" Definately one of the better pilots (pardon the pun ) in recent years, im actually fighting temptation really really hard to read the UK/US threads (im assuming they make it to kobol based on the episode titles ) But yeah, the most inteligent well crafted Sci-Fi ive seen in ages Any thoughts?

i'm in the U.S. and we just got episode 6 tonight, but being at work, i have to wait until the midnight repeat (about an hour and a half away). But, yes, the Mini (or episode 0 as you're calling it--i like that) is one of the best sci-fi movies of all time IMHO. Don't feel too bad. When i first joined this board, the U.K. run was winding down, but we hadn't seen anything except the Mini. In fact, i started a thread called "Anybody who hasn't seen the series yet". i don't know if it's still up, but it got quite a few posts from other U.S. viewers that you might want to check out. It's good to have some Aussies on board. All i can say, without spoiling anything, is strap yourself in, because the series is going to blow you away! ;D

Yeah, I saw this nearly a year ago, but I watched it again anyway. Loved it then, love it now.
And it looks like they aren't delaying it too bad to show the new series. I can talk about it at work without looking too weird. ;D
Ace: Just a little question (okay more than one) but what did you think of Six killing the little baby? Did you have any knowledge of it beforehand, did it offend you?
Just trying to gauge reactions.
And did you know about the series? Have you seen the original?
Sorry about the 20 questions, rare chance to question a newbie with opinions fresh in their minds. ;D
Favourite bits: - All of Adama's speeches, the one at the Decommissioning Ceremony, the Funeral Speech and most definately the War Speech. This man could read my uni text book and make it sound interesting (and I'd probably remember the stuff too).
- Tigh's moment with the fire in the port hangar bay. Loved the tension as they had to choose between the 85 DC crew and the safety of the ship.
- The Adama Sr and Jr moment in the ward room. Repressed anger equals good drama.
- Helo and Boomer on Caprica, him giving up his seat for Baltar. Heroic and noble but stupid. Yes take Baltar but dump the senile old lady.
- Dogfights, way cool. Especially loved the rail guns. Wonder if we'll get to see anyone operate one in season two. Probably like the one where you follow the ammo and watch it explode the best. And Kara's insane move at the end.
- Baltar's part in his house when he watches the destruction of Caprica on his TV. You see so many sides to him in that scene. His guilt and how quickly he goes to denial to save his ass.

Ace: Just a little question (okay more than one) but what did you think of Six killing the little baby? Did you have any knowledge of it beforehand, did it offend you? Of course not, its TV.... more than that, i dont think its nessisarily cold blooded.... i sorta got the impression it was more of a mercy killing (I.E. #6 knowing about the impending doom) the look on her when the mother started screeming face showed that it pained her greatly. Granted it was cold, but i felt it was merciful And did you know about the series? Have you seen the original? Of Course, Ch 10 (Free to Air) in australia has been plastering this all over the promos (not to mension the fact that i couldnt stand waiting 2 weeks for "33"...... so i got the Sky rips) Yeah, ive seen the original from saga of a star world through to The Hand of god (I flatly refuse to watch "The Abomination" ) i like TNS more...... but TOS is has its place..... its great camp sci-fi.... but i think its kinda apples and oranges to compare both)
