Some people will pick holes in this, but it's all based on the knowledge of a NASA scientific advisor. Do you think you know more than he does?

This episode was soo sappy it was great. To be honest I can't pick out any one part of this episode I DIDN'T like! Practically every seen had something! Adama relieving Tigh from duty. Starbuck cracking jokes in the Cylon Raider. "Note to self, don't touch that ever again!" The Adama boys coming together to save Kara. "And if it was me out there?" "If it was you we'd never leave." The part where Rosilin tells the Adamas what is what is great too! The last stoogie. Just so warm and fuzzy. Can't wait for the next episode when things get darker... ;D OH! For those people keeping track of the Top Gun references, the whole part between Kara and Lee where the two planes are over each other... DEFINATELY a Top Gun reference in my book! Practically frame for frame... Albeit Starbuck couldn't flip Apollo the bird...

The part that touched me most was when Adama and Lee talked about never leaving him behind, that was just grade A acting. Very touching.

I got misty eyed during that scene too, also during the crew's reaction to Lee saying it's Starbuck, and when Adama kissed Starbuck's forehead (saw Starbuck's emotional response there ).

Oh my...everyone...group hug. (sniff) Ya it was cool to get the emotional tugs going to get a sense how deep these characters respect and care for one another. I really liked the acting when Lee is concerned that the Cylon is flying in formation. Thought that was classic. The little "waggle" by both ships was sweet. Did anyone else cheer when the crew did? These are great characters. Can't wait till next Friday!

Ok, theres alot of things that are hard to buy into here. The whole starbuck figuring out and flying the cylon raider thing... Even if it had an interface made for a humanoid bipedal pilot it would be a stretch, but this was a fusion of organic and mechanical. And how did she fly against lee without any kind of dradis display? She didnt have much of a cockpit window to track him with yet she was able to dodge his shots and managed to fall back and fly in formation with him?
But i have to say, i did not have a hard time looking past this thanks to the compelling story and strong performances.
In the first part we see how Kara's let her feelings for Zack affect her judgement and how it lead to his death. and in this episode we see Adama let his feelings for Kara put the whole fleet at risk. I was quite touched by the performances of both Sackoff and Olmos which felt very genuine to me throughout.
McDonnell and Hogan were great as well. I felt we got to see Tigh step up to what the situation demanded and the way Roslin handled the situation was brilliant.
The scenes between Olmos and Bamber as well. When Lee is asking Adama "why did we do this" and "would you have done this for me". Very touching.
although the whole "Starbuck can do anything" has real cheese potential, on the whole I feel the character is handled well and i do really enjoy Sackoff in the role. i just love that big grin and expressive eyes and shes quite easy to look at. Id have to say I have a warm spot for the Starbuck character in my heart after this two part episode. I feel we've gotten to see beyond the cocky bitch exterior. Watching her crack in front of Adama in the previous episode was heart wrenching, and the healing scene at the end of this one between the two was touching as well.
i really enjoyed these two episodes.

Good episode though far from the best. Like everyone else I was moved by all the stuff between Adama/Lee/Kara. I still love how Tigh isn't afraid to get in the old mans face and tell him he's wrong. Thought it was really cool to finally see the inside of the Cylon Raider. Not what I expected. I had no idea there would be anything organic inside. I felt so relieved to when Lee saw Starbuck writtnen underneath the ship. Not my fave episode, but solid if you've been watching all along.

I have to admit, this episode rubbed me the wrong way the first time I saw it, because of the implausibilities. How lucky can Kara be to crash near the raider and find it on a moon so vast that the vipers cannot find her? How lucky can Kara be that the raider is still space-worthy after a quick patch and still flyable? How lucky can Kara be that she can figure out how to fly this thing before the fleet leaves?
However, I am reminded of my ex-wife, who watched the first half of the Matrix (up until the red pill, blue pill) and couldn't stand its unrealism and refused to watch even one minute more. She never got to see that there is no spoon, and that in fact everything in the movie (like Neo's mouth being "erased" by the feds) had been totally realistic (in a science fiction sense), since it was in fact all taking place in the Matrix up to that point.
The BSG universe is not in a Matrix, but the Colonials may be so manipulated by the Cylons and their Plan that it's almost as if the Colonials were in a Matrix. I hope this is the case, because otherwise I still find this episode too much to swallow.
