I can understand the Universal wants to get BSG out there for all to see and it appears to be working as the ratings have gone up. However, can they repeat the show too much? BSG is repeated at least 2 (maybe more) times during the week and tonight the first five episodes will rerun.
I am just wondering in this can/will have a negative effect if people begin to skip the Friday showing because they know Sci-Fi will show it later in the week.

My husband smiled and shook his head when I mentioned that Sci-fi was re-running the 1st 5 eps again 'cause he knew that I'd be parking my rear in the seat to view it. I told him that watching it oh-yet-again is just like having a movie on tape or DVD and still watching it on regular TV (or cable for that matter), at least until the commercials wind up annoying you enough that you end up putting in the tape or DVD after all! I don't believe that this will keep people from watching the series on friday night. Everyone is going to tune in the first opportunity they get watch the show, meaning watching on friday night. In fact, I think the friday night numbers will not suffer for it. After all, its not every week that Sci-Fi will re-run all of the eps like that (at least I hope they're more "with it" than that!) I see the re-running of eps on monday nights as an opportunity for Sci-fi to fill up empty time slots and pick up straggler-viewers (who for whatever reason, missed friday's broadcast.) And tonight's mini-marathon is just an abberation. Plus for those who haven't seen the series from the beginning, its a unique chance to catch up.

Eh, it gives people who work, go out dancing/drinking, have leauge bowling practice, or otherwise are occupied on Friday Night a chance to watch it without having to figure out how to program their VCR's. It gives the three people who watch Medical Investigation or NUMB3RS a chance to catch the episode only a day or two later than the rest of us. It allows people who aren't taping every episode a chance to catch some scenes they might have missed due to phone calls or whatever.
HBO and Showtime, from what I hear (don't get them myself), tended to re-show episodes of shows like The Sopranos and Sex and the City multiple times each week, to ensure that everyone who wanted to watch the show could find SOME time slot that was convenient for them. It didn't seem to impact those shows' ability to still pull in a major audience for their first showing of the week.
