Very interesting mention of BSG (Katee Sackoff had some frank things to say). I have the same attitude as she has - complete puzzlement at how some stepped over the line and made personal comments about her (I remember the "fat" and "she must have slept with someone" comments) when they don't know her from a hill of beans. Just totally stupid immature reaction on their part IMO.
There has been some movement of TOSonly fans who started out very adamently against the show and have swung over (in varying degrees of course - from mildly and begrudgingly interested in it, to outright admiration of it now).
There are also those who say they have given the new show a chance, but never *really* did (that allows them to think they have the moral high ground when criticizing it).
And then there are those (and there always will be) who have steadfastly refused to entertain even the thought of it. That's to be expected - you can't please everyone and it isn't a given that everyone will like what you are doing.
I have to say though, some of those "die-hard" posts (over on places like CA etc.) are just pathetically bitter and almost cringe-worthy sad - like the ones that have popped up recently that heavily criticized TNS for inconsistency and yet when someone said "Yeah, but TOS also had some continuity problems!" they were told not to mention TOS in their rebuttal comment! ... but it is all right for TOSonly fans to keep comparing TOS to TNS when it is about "family values",
"dysfunctional traits in characters", "black actors" etc. LOL!!!.
At any rate... enjoy the article.
