I am going to catch a lot of flak for this but here goes: Are the fans of Enterprise destined to become the BSG TOS fans of the future? My point is that they have a show that is canceled with no studio support to continue, yet they refuse to let it go. They have a campaign in place to save it, they are raising money for an ad, and the list goes on. I predict that even after the sets are gone and the actors are greasing the convention circuit they will be pushing for an Enterprise movie (and of course be blaming everyone under the sun as to why this is not happening). Bakula may even write a few books, the BSG TOS fans have De Santo, Enterprise fans now have Coto as their savior he will be the name you hear time and time again as the man to bring back Enterprise, regardless of whether he actually has an interest in doing that or not. I doubt that we will ever have a reimagined Enterprise, but I do not expect them to ever stop trying to bring the show back.

By saying they might become the new TOS BSG fans, do you mean they might attack us (well...we did get their show canceled...supposedly, although the syndication sale might have done it any way)?

By saying they might become the new TOS BSG fans, do you mean they might attack us? Actually they are attacking us, as I outlined in another thread shortly before the announcement that Enterprise had been canceled. Moreover, if you go to Saveenterprise, Trekbbs, of the Star Trek forum of the Sci-Fi boards you will feel the heat. What I see here is the makings of an obsessed fanbase, (and yes I do think that those who crusade for BSG TOS are obsessed). That is part of the reason why I can see Enterprise fans becoming elevated to the stature of BSG TOS fans. They will eventually, come to BSG boards because of the RDM connection and because they blame BSG for the horrendous numbers Enterprise has received since BSG premiered, even though they do not compete with each other. However, in many ways they do, not everyone watches every show and some choose one over the other regardless of when it is on. Others find watching Enterprise less satisfying now that BSG is on, I know I do. I watched Enterprise I have always thought that it was OK, not great but OK, I was always entertained enough for the time spent, now with BSG raising the bar, I feel that watching Enterprise is indeed a waste of time.

I went over to Saveenterprize, and read some posts. They were all very excited about the renewal, and I didn't see any detractors. Please link me to the specific thread.

Most of the anti-BSG posts where made pre-cancellation or shortly thereafter. They have changed their tune on Sci-Fi and BSG because they are under the misguided impression that Sci-Fi will pick-up Enterprise.

But as for picking up "Enterprise," I think there's a chance (although the budget would be cut). And I would like to be able to give the show a try (I don't get UPN, and have only seen one episode).

I think that Sci-Fi might produce a new Star Trek, but Enterprise is done and I cannot see anyone touching it. Of course, I could be wrong, but all accounts point to Paramount wishing Enterprise to end. They do not wish to shop it around and the UPN e-mail made it very clear that Enterprise will end on May 13th. Now, after a few years when UPN and Enterprise are distant memories, I could see Sci-Fi producing a new Star Trek series.
UPN form email below:
Hello,
Thank you for writing to UPN. The STAR TREK legacy has spanned nearly four decades and has spawned five television series. Ten years ago, STAR TREK: VOYAGER was instrumental in helping launch UPN.
The latest incarnation, STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, has reached the culmination of its journey. This painstaking decision came after it was recognized that despite having many loyal fans like you, the audience for the show was declining steadily. Therefore, ENTERPRISE is set to decommission and will be given a grand send-off on Friday, May 13th at 8 PM ET/PT on UPN.
This does not mean that STAR TREK is gone forever. Paramount, the studio that produced all five television series and ten feature films, is looking forward to the next chapter of the STAR TREK saga.
We know that this information may not make you feel any better but we want you to know how much we appreciate your input and we sincerely hope that you will continue to share your thoughts with us in the future.
Cordially, UPN Viewer Services

Hey, what if they approved an "Enterprise" mini-series. That way they could make the Trekkies happy, give it something resembling it's former budget, and not get stuck with it.

My position is that Enterprise should end and not be revisited, the ratings are very low and would be even lower on Sci-Fi because it is in 10% less households than UPN. The characters are wooden and have not developed much over the last four seasons, and lastly, the stories are painfully predictable. However, I would love if Sci-Fi produced a new Trek show, in a few years maybe 3-5. By then SG-1 will be long gone, SG-A will be getting old, and BSG will be in its mid-series stride. ;D
