Realized that it's probably not the greatest of ideas to advertise the new Galactica for the mainstream audience by mentioning that it has Richard Hatch as a guest star.
I very much suspect that the non-scifi crowd would first think of the *other* Richard Hatch . . .

I wonder if actor Richard Hatch still believes the old saying "there's no such thing as BAD publicity."

Realized that it's probably not the greatest of ideas to advertise the new Galactica for the mainstream audience by mentioning that it has Richard Hatch as a guest star. . . . I did not see much fanfare leading up to his debut in Bastille Day. I think Sci-Fi did play it down somewhat. Or they could be like most of the new non-sci-fi converts and be thinking Richard Hatch who is that?

Lol, I had to look up the IMDb just now to find out who the "other" Richard Hatch was. As has been said above, there's no such thing as bad publicity. If people watch the show because they think there's some reality show dork on it, well, matters not if they like the show.

HA! That's so true.
My friend THUGLIFE was doing a writeup on Zarek and a bio of Richard....
But when he googled Richard Hatch, he got some fat guy with a beard walking butt-naked on a beach.
He says he's been scarred for life, and is threatening to abandon his hippie beliefs.

The Richard Hatch who is from the reality show Survivor is right now in trouble for tax evasion. Evidently, the idiot didn't think he had to pay taxes on his Survivor winnings. I was going to say that I hope the IRS takes the clothes off his back, but YUCK! I think we've seen enough of his scary, naked body. Calli

But, are they even mentioning that Richard Hatch is guest-starring? I haven't seen them mention his name once in any promos...

Rob Salem of the Toronto Star wrote three paragraphs on Hatch in the new Galactica. It's publicity.

I always refer to the Galactica Hatch as "Richard Hatch" & the Survivor Hatch as "Dick Hatch" to avoid confusion. I think the later Hatch is a total knucklehead.

I haven't seen any commercials advertising Hatch on TNG, but the bit at the end of the two-part premiere where they previewed "this season on Galactica", Hatch was featured prominently in the clips shown, notably his line from Bastille Day that "this is the first day of the new era". I thought it was a nifty choice, personally, having the foremost revival advocate announcing the birth of the new era that way...
