Personally, I'd rather see RDM steer clear of any kind of telepathic, telekinetic, ascended, or whatever "superbeings."

For Moore's Galactica to really succeed it needs to reach out to the original fanbase in some ways. Redoing some of the stories is one way. I think Larson patented the Pegasus universe so it may be dificult to do a LL story an Iblis story is another matter. Patent would not apply. There may be some legal issues, but if the studio wanted to do it, it would be done. I don't think catering to fans that constantly berate RDM is a path to success.

I'd agree. This particular character/plot needs to stay firmly in the past.

They would really have to twist stuff around for me to enjoy the return of Count Iblis, he didn't do it for me in the TOS.

I got a better idea .
Bring back Iblis, but not as an aristocrat .
Have him appear on Kobol as a hermit, but also have him referenced vaguely or hazily remembered as the scientist who first invented the Cylon A.I. and who died in a mysterious accident 60 yrs ago . Get Anthony Hopkins to play the role if he will . Second choice would be Hugo Weaving . Finally, have Iblis reveal that Kobol is not the origin of Humanity . Earth is .
Add a theory of a lost ancient race that transplanted humans from Earth to Kobol to preserve the lost civilization of Atlantis . Or leave the motive a mystery . .
