Cautious Optimism About the PickUp- What Is That?

I've been able to review all the posts on most of the BSG sites.
Some have decided to be cautiously optimistic (my word, not theirs) about the pickup.
Will it happen? Can there be a breakdown in negotiations over financing? Could BSG end up like Farscape?
Let me tell you guys- THERE IS A DEFINITE COMMITMENT ON SCI-FI's and NBC's PART TO STICK WITH THIS SHOW!
To the Farscapers, well- that show did run 4 seasons but never acquired the ratings that BSG has. And it is, first and foremost, a ratings game (with associated demographics) as to whether shows get renewed or not. So a comparison should not be made between the two shows.
Secondly, I have heard that NBC's acquisition of Sci-Fi would hurt BSG. If anything, it has helped that show. NBC aired the mini and will probably air some (if not all) of the first season episodes over summer before the fall premiere. And NBC will probably contribute some big bucks to the budget for the next season. So NBC has been a blessing- not a curse- to Sci-Fi & BSG.
Third, the let's just wait & see attitude might have been warranted before the pickup of Season 1, but why the wait & see now. IT HAS BEEN RENEWED, PERIOD! What remains is to bring back as many of the actors as possible & get the air dates in order.
So take heart, Galactica fans.
No matter how you spin it, BSG will be back with at least 13 episodes on the Sci-Fi Channel.
So enjoy, celebrate, and have a good time.
You are entitled to that!
And don't let the nay-sayers or those sitting on the fence take this moment away from you.

I know what you mean.

I grow tired of the notion that fans of the new series are somehow being "protected" from malicious rumors.

It seems likely that some people want the new show to fail, to be cancelled, or perhaps to politely just wrap up its story line and drift in to oblivion.

I enjoy hearing news that it is not fading quietly in to the night. And if a few "rumors" along the way turn out to be wrong, I don't think that will scar me for life.

Like any TV show, eventually this will be cancelled.
Those who enjoy it hope that day is far off.

For the Sci-Fi Channel, BSG is a runaway hit. There's no way they or anyone that acquires them (rumor) would dump it at this point. Heck it's kicking tail against network TV.

I was a HUGE Farscape fan, and I do not see how you can compare the two shows WRT ratings and money.
