I put "14-19." The reason I put that is because I'd like to see some token increase in the number of episodes, just as a show of faith from the network. I'd say 15 tops. But I definately do NOT want too many. I agree. They can do a few more without ruining the quality of the show. I would say 15-16 is a good number. 13 is a bit short and makes for a real long off season. I personally don't like waiting a half year between seasons. Waiting through summer is bad enough! I will be glad for a second season regardless of the length.

From a marketing standpoint, you could also promote this 2-hour special as a movie event, and also sell it overseas as a TV-Movie, DVD, or VHS movie in markets where the show itself isn't broadcast, like B5 did with "A Voice in the Wilderness". The obvious candidate for such a treatment is, of course, the Pegasus story, or perhaps the appearance of Count Iblis or his TNS equivalent. But I'm sure RDM can think of a plotline he's been toying with, but which is too big for a one-hour episode or which is hard to cover fully while also keeping tabs on all the other little plotlines going on at the same time. The big plot arc probably makes it hard to do such a story as a true stand-alone, and to do it right you almost have to have this story concern some major plot point or big-time revelation. But I'm sure RDM can come up with a way to tread that fine line between making such a special event accessible to new viewers, as well as giving it added meaning and significance for us rabid fans. Good idea Big Brother! Maybe do a story on the Colonies before the war or possable other survivors and how they make there way to Galatica. Something along those like that way it really doesn't have to tie in all the plot lines but still be relevent.

I voted for 13 or I could even go to 16 episodes a season but who knows that's just me I think .

You all have valid points but I assure you, the ratings & support & fan base that SCIFI relies on is primarily US based. The fans in this country will make up a larger portion of total TNS fans, & we have a long TV season. Plus, if they keep writing good enough stories & dialogue & keep it interesting, they will be able to do a lot of eps with minimal CGI fx & stuff. This show is so good that there could be multiple eps that would never have to venture outside the ships much. The best part of TNS is the characters, & their relationships with one another, & IMHO the battle & space sequences are the secondary element. Plus, if they put more eps in a season, we'll have more reruns to watch between seasons.
Here's why I don't like short seasons, a few years back there was a Britcom called "Spaced". Brilliant show, but only ran for 2 seasons & had only 7 eps per. I borrowed the 2 DVD's from a friend after seeing an ep & I was hooked! I watched both DVD's & then called up my friend asking him if there were any more & he said no. That show should have been on for at least 5 or more seasons!
Over here in the states, we need more eps of really great shows, look at the standard garbage that is on our networks! Mo' is better! ;D

I miss spaced so much the bit where they start shooting each other with there fingers and then later the kids who go after them is so dam funny
If you've seen it you'll know what I mean, if not then read it as incoherant babbling (I like to cater to all folk)

I'm in the 14-19 category. I agree 20's would be too much and dilute the quality....but being as selfish as I am I want to see more than 13 per season ;D 15 or 16 quality episodes with a few fillers thrown in...

In addition to the quality/dilution issue, there's the issue of buzz.
By doing a 13 episode season, you create a longer time between seasons. Thus, giving people outside the hardcore fans more time to get "hungry" for it again.
If you run longer seasons, you create more episodes with a shorter gap between seasons. A lot of the folks on the fringes of the fanbase will get bored with galactica saturation (no matter how good it is) and wander away.
I say stick with 13, 15 tops.
