Some of you may be aware, and some may not be, that Vivendi Universal Games came out with a console game based on the original BSG series last fall. Their message board doesn't have as many posts as it once did since they have expired, but you can find it here. The are some nice game intro and in game video clips on their FTP server here. The game was porduced by their Universal Games studio and is no longer shown on their official store page, but you may be able to find copies of it out there at other sources.

This forum is not about video games.

No, the forum is about "other media". The game I mentioned is "other media".
There is no section for other types games so here is where it has to go.

No, the forum is about "other media". The game I mentioned is "other media". Since this thread essentially touches on gaming, even though it is a role playing, rather than start a new thread about the BSG game I just plugged it in here instead since that is all I have to say about the game. Wrong. The forum title says... "Galactica RPG Role-playing in the re-imagined Galactica universe" This forum is NOT about video games. There is no mention of "other media" anywhere in the title of this forum.

The RPG forum is under Other Media but it is not the correct forum to discuss the console game. But you have raised an interesting discussion thread - maybe you should ask one of the moderators where you should put it like Bladerunner or Xenu.

This should really go in the 'General' Galactica section, so I'll move 'er there....

Thanks, great Link. I have been searching the intro for a long time.

Wrong. The forum title says... "Galactica RPG Role-playing in the re-imagined Galactica universe" This forum is NOT about video games. There is no mention of "other media" anywhere in the title of this forum. Look again. Other Media is the category. They should create a folder for non-RPG games in the Other Media category. It's all moot now, since it has been moved here.

I have this game on Xbox (I like to think of my Xbox as New Battlestar Galactica and PS2's more original series)! Its a great game, flying the old Vipers is something I have wanted from a game since as long as I can remember (flying a Raider was col as well) My only complaint is how damn hard the game is - I am on a level where the Galactica is being chased thru a wormhole by a Basestar and I am operating the Galactica's main guns - been stuck on this level for ages! Can anyone help - any advice?

Can anyone help - any advice? I can't help I'm afraid; the game being too hard was a big problem for it in general. I found it impossible to use all the flight controls and get to the cannon button at the same time ie I couldn't roll *and* open fire. I discovered also that none of the Viper types in the game are the same as the ones from either the original series *or* the new one. ie the mk.1 Viper is made up (note the smaller size, different shaped canopy etc) and the Mk.2 (ie what should be the new series ship) is similar but significantly different (the wings especially). I had no time for it when I realised that they couldn't even get the TOS Viper modelled correctly, let alone the Mk.2, which they *must* have had plans available for. It might sound nit-picky I suppose, but they just aren't the Vipers they should be

The game is strange mix of both Old Series and New Series...and some of it's own mix...I suppose to try and satisfy everyone. It's a fun game, if not at times a lil' hard. Was better than I expected.

I managed to beat the wormhole level after a few tries. Not sure how really, probably by shooting a lot of missiles from the guns that have that option.
The next level is TOUGH though. You have to fly a cylon raider. Formation flying is doable with some practice, but killing the objective seems impossible.

So is it worth the money or should we wait and see if someone comes out with a better one?

Despite its difficult levels you could pick it up rather cheaply on Ebay. SO for about $20 i dont think you could go wrong. Also I dont think anyone soon is going to be making another console BSG game....
