What do I look like?

Can any Moderators please tell me if it's out of order or illegal or something bewfore I start this thread.

I just want to know if we can all get to know each other a bit more.

I'm starting to place avatars to people in my mind - it's like living in a magazine or something.

I have no problem with it, but I'm not a mod.

Although the mods themselves mostly posted in the thread in this same sub-forum called "The Obligatory Post Your Own Pic Thread". So finding out what we all look like shouldn't be too hard. I put up two pics of myself there.

As for avatars, yes, my current avatar is indeed a self-portrait.

Hmmm...maybe we should have a "Why did you pick that particular screen name" thread as well? Okay, this being a fanboard, we'll get endless variations on "Well, I picked KkkkateeROX because Katee Sackhof rOxOr's my BoXoR's" and that sort of thing...but the rest of us might be interesting stories.

I used to be online under my own name on several webforums (SlipstreamBBS, GolemLabs, TotalWar, a couple others) and on USENET. But then my younger sister joined the online world, and once she dragged me, kicking and screaming, into the world of Harry Potter fandom, we started showing up on the same forums. She goes by the handle "Lolua", which is a long story in and of itself, and because she's a rather small and delicate thing (she's 22 but looks about 15) and the Internet is full of creeps, she requested that I drop my penchant for smugly admitting my true identity. So I first became "Big Brother" on the HPANA forums, and stuck with that moniker on all boards I joined after that. The name refers not only to the fact that I'm an older brother in real life, but also to my interest in sci-fi and political thrillers (and Orwell's 1984 counts as both), as well as in conquer-the-world computer and board games such as Risk and Axis&Allies.

I'm trying to get my sister hooked on BSG, but she's too into her current HP fanfic project (a massive autobiography of Severus Snape in 3 novel-length volumes) to spare much thought for anything else.
