Arggh! first it was Languatron, then Spider, now its a hoard of different newbies every week posting the same threads over and over again!!!
I've almost had it with that board. I'm sure things will settle down, but it really seems to go from one extreme to another.
At least we have'nt got the hoards of NS haters Spider predicted...
I think i'll stick here for my BSg chat.

At least Languatron was amusing. I stopped lurking there shortly after he was banned and only occasionally pop in to do a quick look around. It's a fracking zoo now.

I've only ever popped over there once, perhaps twice when Gateworld was off-line. It was an 'interesting' experience Let's just say that their grasp of the english language was... tenuous at best. I don't mind the occassional dodgy spelling or slang (gods knows that I'm good at abusing the english language ) but text speak?! Not on the same boards as me thankee kindly! So I think I'll stay... much obliged!

Me, I don't have time for all that antagonism or open hostility. I got enough of that in junior high school, high school and work. I'm done with that. Its much nicer here.

I stopped going there for the most part, honestly, there is very little relevant discussion going and every time a good topic comes up a troll intervenes or posts an idiotic thread about some nonsense or another. I do not even think that half of them are TOS fans they are just internet trolls. Sites own by networks tend not to be monitor very closely and are a haven for such people, I used to go to the Tru Calling site on Fox.com but it is just as bad as the sci-fi site. People making trouble for no other reason then because they can get away with it. If you want a real laugh go to the American Idol site on Fox once the voting starts those people are brutal.

I give it a look every day, but that place is filled with misogynists. No thanks!

I've lurked there a few times but it seems pretty harsh and trollish! Sheeze Ragnar is the best for BSG!and humane discussion, and just plain fun! I hope it stays this way.

I check them from time to time but my that place is scary.
I have no problem with people liking only TOS or only TNS or both or neither as long as they post their views in a rational manner but that is not the case with scifi board. And then there are even scarier people there who seem to bring some bizarre personal agenda into topics that have nothing to do with it. Ugh!

Okay so I WAS going to go over there one day but from the sound of it it's a frakking war zone, so maybe best to stay out of it. Is the place full of loonies or do they just have a lot of pent-up aggression?

All of the above! Plus, maybe, a healthy dose of what I call 'alternate reality syndrome'!

Is the place full of loonies or do they just have a lot of pent-up aggression? There are a few individuals who appear to be sane, rational and friendly (God knows why they remain at the Skiffy boards), but there are too many belligerant psychos just waiting to pounce on anyone who dares to disagree with their opinion. And when I say pounce, I mean that they go off in directions that have nothing to do with the subject under discussion. They make vicious personal attacks questioning your age, gender, sexual preference, IQ...anything under the sun. It's fun to occasionally lurk there, but I wouldn't bother trying to swim in that water. It's much too polluted. Calli

I need more posts to feed my thirst for BSG knowledge, so I sift through the scifi.com board and find enough morsels to keep me looking for more. It helps if you read the threads with titles that sound scientific and noncontroversial. Take for example, the thread Cylon souls and Information transfer lag time... Trolls are too stupid to even begin to comprehend such things, so they tend to stick with the "Starbuck, Starbuck, Starbuck!" type threads. It also helps if you use the "ignore" feature liberally (click on name, then ignore.) And finally, pay attention to the thread ratings, and add your own. The ratings of the posters aren't so reliable, though, probably due to the trolls' ratings. In any case the number of posts there is truly overwhelming, so you have to be selective in what you read.

However, I should point out that those who have not seen all 13 episodes should not even peek at the scifi.com forum. Sociopathic trolls are maliciously putting spoilers in the titles of threads over there.
